Ole Miss 71 UK 69

Darius Miller's tweet after the game:

uknum1: "I wanna apologize to my teammates and the #bbn for losing that game. "

Who knows what was going through his mind last night. Just when we thought the light had turned on, he found the off switch. I honestly did not know he made the trip to Oxford until late in the second half.

You are right about getting pushed around. I saw Jones hit the floor 3 or 4 times in the second half alone. As I have said in other posts on here, teams that are physical inside are going to give UK trouble. Miller really disappears in physical games. This team must have Miller in double figures every game.

He is a Duke fan. I think he is saying since the UK fans beat on Duke for their St. John's loss that it came back to bite them in this one.

Which makes no sense because all we hear is how Duke pays no attention to UK.

Bottom Line is this. The worst thing that could have happened it to have hit a shot in the last possesion or two and won the game. They needed a major wake up call and if this game doesnt show them their weaknesses none will.

We know the negatives, what positives did you take from the game?

Despite forcing the action early, I thought Jones finally let the game come to him. He had one terrible three point attempt, but other shots were in his range. Love him or hate him, Jones made plays the final 2-3 minutes. Huge blocks and did not miss a shot (FG or FT). Knight put together about the best 1 minute stretch in all of college basketball this year -- then that was about all he did. Lamb was solid all night but cannot defend.

I also believe Harrellson has taken his "role" to the extreme. We know he is there to mix it up and get rebounds, but he poses very little threat on the offensive end. I would like to see him get touches to get Jones in better position.

That about sums it up.

Last year UK had one upperclassman that could bring it, and the 3 Freshman were better than this years.

This official whining is getting old. UK got away with a lot too. Both of Warren's first half fouls were bogus one when they both jumped up for a pass that was way over thrown and the other Warren had his hands straight up when UK drove in the lane. So the official whining is nothing more than sour grapes, believe me they weren't perfect on our side either.

Top 10 team in Rupp. On the road, not so much...

Too bad they can't host a few tournament games.

Ok so lets agree The Officials were terrible on both sides.

There are a lot of differences. Patterson vs. Miller as your upperclassman leader. Patterson vs. Miller simply as a player on the court. I'd throw depth in there as well. Harrelson went from rarely seeing the court to starter. Liggins is now starting and nobody has filled the role he played off the bench last season. These freshmen have to do more because they have less around them. Last year's group had the same help as this year's (Miller, Liggins), plus Patterson. And, they had 4 freshmen who could contribute significantly instead of three. Orton off the bench was a big luxury. Especially compared to having to worry about Josh Harrelson getting in foul trouble this season.

I still like this team. Hopefully they can get it figured out away from Rupp.

I can agree on that. They always miss calls though the SEC needs a new head of officials for all sports. Basketball refs are usually terrible, and well we all know how beat up SEC football refs get after sportcenter every week in football season.

This UK team just doesn't have a good inside presence though. Last year on the road Cousins would have beat out some baskets for UK down the stretch and it would have sealed it. A big man you can count on for two points when you are on the road makes all the difference. If you want another reason UK didn't win this game look at the last 7 minutes of the first half. With UK ahead Chris Warren picked up his 2nd foul and sat the rest of the half. UK failed to capitalize and in fact Ole Miss took the lead down from 6 or 7 to 1 at the half without Warren. That's where UK blew this game.

Hey Darius, grow some. I mean seriously what is up with that? Bad loss to a bad team too.
