Noise Makers at Games

Featured Replies

Are there any rules regarding noise makers at games?

At a middle school basketball game there was a fan ringing a cow bell. At one point one of the people in charge of the game (not the referees) went up to that fan and told them that they could not ring the cow bell when the game was going on---but the fan was allowed to ring it during time-outs and such. I was just curious about the rules?

Not sure, but I've definitely heard cowbells and other loud things while games have been played.

On another note, I can't help to think of the skit involving Will Ferrell in Saturday Night Live with the infamous cowbell when Christopher Walken made a guest appearance on it.

Artificial noisemakers are not allowed at high school games while the ball is in play.

What in the world would make you want to ring a Cowbell for 2 hours?

Ever been to a Pee Wee football game and sit by the parents that shake the penny-filled plastic milk jugs? No different.

If you ever experienced just one international game in person you will know, it's actually a great atmosphere. People with noise makers, bells, drums ect, I actually like it now.

That was the first thing I thought of when I saw the fan with the cowbell. "Wait, stop. We have to start over---we need more cowbell!"

Thanks. Good to know.

Those shakers don't bother me, but air horns and cow bells drive me crazy, especially if I am sitting in front of that person. what ever happened to just cheering for your team?

Can't imagine how loud a cow bell was in a gym! :madman:

It was very loud, and it was a small, older, middle school gym, where the fans from both teams are on the same side of the gym, packed in like sardines---so that one cowbell was on everybody's nerves!

Cowbells are bad enough outdoors at cross-country meets; I can't imagine how loud they would be in a gym.

Any noise maker for that matter. :D

Cowbells are a large reason why I don't attend as many Rays games as I used to.
