January 21, 201115 yr This will be my last storm post. I started these threads to give people info to help them prepare for a possible emergency situation. Quite frankly, I think I've been wasting my time both on here and at work. Hopefully someone will not be caught unprepared for any future severe weather event. To answer the question about next week. Forecast models are showing another storm brewing. Take what you will from that. Don't take it personally, nWo. The people coming on here saying the forecast was overblown and that the road conditions are fine, frankly, are either trying to sound tough or just have no idea how bad it is out there -- or maybe they live far enough south that they don't know what it's like in the harder hit areas. You provide a great service to all of us on BGP, and I for one, hope you keep on posting your weather updates!

January 21, 201115 yr I usually find out about winter storms from NWO on here before I hear it locally. He's my Tony Sands. (younger NKY people will have no clue who that is - Leatherneck will.) I do...unfortunately.

I remember those mid 90s storms he mentioned, in 96 and 98 I believe, at least for NKY. HUGE snow amounts! About this last storm, it's either people are upset over roads not being cleared (two weeks ago from tonight), or they want to complain that it was "overblown", some just want to complain about anything and everything (like having HS games or tourneys at NKU ) We got what was forcasted in NKY, just over 6" in Ft Mitchell. Plus, what Bailey shows are JUST what the models are showing and possibly what he thinks of it, it's not his forecast until he makes the "first call", he was not wrong on this one. I don't think the roads are too bad at all, as I remember how to drive in it, as it seems a lot forget, and forget the late 70s, the 80s and most of the 90s, when we had REAL winters around here.

I wasn't knocking this thread I was knocking the tristate and the news around here they go over blown with snow storms.

I was referring to how Bailey sometimes gets a little hyper with his predictions on his site (but he is always more right than wrong and I've told a lot of friends about his site and that it is one of the best). I meant nothing personal toward you. It was a bad post on my part and I'm sorry. I enjoy the warning threads and weather posts and the updates from our fellow members from around the state. January 22, 201115 yr It was sure bad in Lincoln county Thursday night. I live atop a long hill on US-27, Halls Gap, and have lived here all my life. Halls Gap was as bad as I have seen it in at least 10 years. It is number 1 to be serviced in the county road system and it was terrible. I think a lot of this is due to such a difficult winter and the number of snow events that many counties are not pre-treating roads due to budget constraints and salt shortages. I am one who likes snow, but I have had enough!!!! Keep up the forecasts NWO!!!
January 22, 201115 yr I think we've had many winters that could be considered worse than this one, particularly snow amounts. But what separates this one is that it started so early with the extreme cold and snow, just after Thanksgiving. It's only January 22 and our school has missed 18 days. And the forecast is for possibly the worst storm of the winter Monday night and Tuesday.
