Both teams shot around 48% from the field and both had about 10-12 turnovers. The reason that CovCath lost this game was because they did not box out. Ball watching. The 2nd chance points were 12-6 in favor of Holmes and they won by 4. There is no reason, not one, why a team that goes 6'-7", 6'-6", 6'-5" gets outrebounded by a much smallter team like Holmes. You box you, you get rebounds. You don't box out, they get rebounds and Holmes got 37 and CCH got 28. All that being said, very impressive comeback to outscore Holmes by 13 at one point in the 2nd half. Connelly going out in the first half with the cut to the nose while leading the Colonels in scoring also hurt. It took a long time for Jake to get involved int he offense and they nver got Baker involved. Riedinger did an awesome job of scoring from 3 and hitting free throws. He and Machinot handled the pressure pretty well. Execution down the stretch was not good for the Colonels.

Do you have the first half rebound stats? I have to think that is where Holmes got the most boards with CovCath playing a man defense. Holmes got a lot of stick back points off the man. The 3rd quarter Holmes came out and missed their first 4 or 5 shots against the 1-3-1 and CovCath owned the boards in that quarter.

I'm sorry I don't, but I agee with everything you said. Rebounding was about even the 2nd half. It was the key of the game. Now, some of that happened when Connelly went out as that was the highest scoring quarter for the dogs. I don't think much was decided tonight, except for the fact that the region is wide open.

Thanks for the text updates Walter sounds like a battle in a hostile environment. How were the Crazies tonight, from the looks of Pandas pics they had the Prep theme going.

Could of sworn I saw (4) different officials in the pics? Could this be possible? Did they need to utilize an alternate?

First few pics are from the JV game.

Normally don't take refs but this is the beginning of their Pink Whistle (fighting cancer) campaigne. They donate game monies for the Cancer research fund. Thumbs up to them for this participation.

As others who attend the game have posted, this was a good one.

Either team could have won the game.

I believe CovCath was to passive in the first half, Holmes attacked the basket while CovCath passed the ball and passed up shots from the outside.

Holmes is a fast team, but IMO CovCath was slow in getting back on defense leading to easy baskets.

The second half CovCath became much more active, playing 1-3-1 zone they still contested every pass, leading to steals in the start of the third.

Holmes won in the game in last 2 minutes, with CovCath up 3 60-57 CovCath fouls under the basket leading to a three point play.

Then IMO CovCath took a couple of bad shots and had to foul and Holmes made their fouls shots.

Again a very good basketball game both teams could win the region.

You saw both the JV game and the varsity game in the pictures.

Maybe TOG can confirm, but I believe it was Connelly who had 22, not Thelen.

Thelen was listed with 15 pts, 12 rbs.

You saw both the JV game and the varsity game in the pictures.

The younger guy in the JV game was absolutely horrible.

Holmes was lucky to win the JV game 50-43. They were up 39-23 heading in to the 4th.

There are still only 3 officials on the floor at one time.

Can I quote you on that?

So did Jake have 21 or did he have 15?
