Holmes 64 Covington Catholic 60

Featured Replies

The last two minutes of the game were like a heavy weight fight, each team hitting their shots and then the other team went down and hit their shot. It was an outstanding game and congrats to the Dogs on the victory.

CovCath will learn from this game, that they have to play four full quarters of Basketball to win a game, against a quality opponent! Holmes learned that this CovCath team won't quit when they are down and that they won't be pushed around either. Cubbie I have heard, will be getting stitches sometime later tonight and he came out of the locker room, lets just say a ton upset and with a huge chip on his shoulder.

Once CovCath got back the total down from 10 to two or three it was back and forth the rest of the night. If you didn't attend you missed a great game!

For CCH hopefully they will learn from the above and play better as they could see Holmes 2 more times. It was just a few years ago when they beat Holmes 3x during the season, but lost in the Regional Championship to them.

:ylsuper:Good win for the dogs. JV dogs also won. Big ups to Ross Hart[JV coach for dogs] He's doing an great job!:ylsuper::ylsuper:

:D

I was at the game and thought that Holmes was better prepared to start the game and it translated into a very strong 1st half. CCH played better in the 2nd half but you have to question some of the substitutions by the CCH coaching staff late in the game. Most notably taking Drew Baker out of the game when Holmes was really struggling shooting over him. I simply don't understand it. Holmes may have CovCath's number but I feel that it's more coaching than talent. Congrats to Holmes on a big win at CCH.

Each time CovCath losses you seem to say it was the Coaching staff fault, but not once have I seen you post when CovCath wins, do you post great job coach. BTW did you happen to notice the substitution rotation that Coach L was using, to keep his troops fresh?

With the win, Holmes improves to 10-4 (2-0 district) and have now came out on top of the Colonels 8 straight times.

When was the last time one of these schools won that many in a row against the other?

Good job and it was nice talking to you prior to the game.

Indeed...I'm sure I'll be seeing you atleast one more time, if not two more times, this season.

I'm hoping for 2 more times. :thumb:

There has to be something we can think of to get Walter from just absolutely busting out of his shirt. Oh, I got one, what was the count on your famous dunk-o-meter???

Both Baker and Thelen indeed had nice dunks tonight.

Just trying to calm you down a bit so you can at least get some sleep tonight.

The ten point lead that Holmes had at half time, could be seen on the stats sheet by a 10-0 points scored via TO's lead Holmes had in the first half on CovCath and it continued through the game for a 12-8 point difference off TO's advantage to Holmes, which so happened to be the difference of the final score!

Indeed sometimes stats can tell you a lot more than just the final score of the game!

Box score?
