January 9, 201115 yr UK is going to have some issues going up against teams that have some size and UGA has that. Thompkins is the preseason POY in the conference and Price and Newton are two solid post players who can defend, board, and finish around the rim. UGA has a solid team, they lost to Notre Dame in 2OT in one of Thompkins first game back from injury. UGA really tried to take UK's perimeter game away and did a nice job, and UK did not do a good job of finishing consistently in the paint. UK's defense has slid over the last few weeks and they will have to crank it back up, especially in these road games. As for Miller, he has been playing better, but just didn't finish around the basket yesterday.
January 9, 201115 yr Not surprising to me at all that the Cats lost this one. UGA is tough at home & seemingly always plays tough against UK. With Leslie & Thompkins, UGA has some star power. Cats will bounce back.
January 9, 201115 yr UK never seemed to recover from the non call on Lamb that led to Jone's fourth foul. Champions fight through these.
January 10, 201115 yr Rough game, but everything went against the Cats and they were in it til the end. UK couldn't buy a call, couldn't hit FT when they did, and UGA had the game of their season from the FT line. I hate it, but its not the end of the world by any means.
January 10, 201115 yr Champions fight through these. They won't win every game this year it will be OK.
January 10, 201115 yr The story of the game is Georgia hit 30 for 34 from the free throw line. 7 point difference in the game, if the Bulldogs had been their usual self from the line UK would have probably won. Just wait, the next game Georgia has they won't hit 40% of their FT's.
January 10, 201115 yr Darius Miller is overrated. He is a Kentucky kid and definitely root for him. But everyone expects a lot from him and I don't think he is capable. He likes running floaters, but those shots hit the back rim a lot, he needs to shoot a little softer if he is going to be a major factor in the future in crunch time. I saw an interview that Mark Krebs did with kysportsradio that chronicled Billy Gillispie's reign of error in Kentucky. He mentions that Gillispie was incredibly tough on Darius miller and he still believes that miller is feeling the effects of this when dealing with confidence. This is the only thing I can fathom as to why he doesn't take over games, because the kid has the talent to be a first team All-SEC performer.
January 10, 201115 yr He mentions that Gillispie was incredibly tough on Darius miller and he still believes that miller is feeling the effects of this when dealing with confidence. If you lack confidence as a scholarship UK basketball, all because some drunkard was tough on you....you had better do some soul searching. Miller is way better than Gillispie ever thought about being, and is most likely ten times the man....suck it up, and play.
January 10, 201115 yr I was disappointed in the outcome however, I agree we are young and will get better as they go forward and grow with the program. GO CATS get ready for Auburn. JD
January 10, 201115 yr All KY had to do to win was make shots. Everyone on the team was missing shots they normally make including free throws. How many shots did Josh miss under the goal? Everyone was off for whatever reason on Sat.

Everyone was off for whatever reason on Sat. And those type of days happen. A lot of that credit goes to UGA though. I was most disappointed in how weak UK looked in the interior... from an agression standpoint. I will not lose a second of sleep if Vargas never sees the floor again. I would rather see Polson go in at Center.

At Mason County Miller was the most talented player, and outside of the program was criticized for not taking over games more. On the other hand, he was playing on a team with Middleton and Setty who were not shy at all about getting their shots in. Whether by nature, of for the good of the team chemistry, he often worked within their team concept, and within the program was applauded for that. Sometimes it is just hard for a kid/player to figure out how to play their role, or if they have a leading part.
