Since they're probably some Rocket faithful on here, let me ask what ever happened to Marty Regan. He was a great highschool RB and I really enjoyed watching him the few chances that I got

Marty still lives in Rockcastle County, not certain where he is employed though. He helps out with the Little League Program some too I believe. I want to say he is a coach for one of the local teams.

For what its worth, Lexington Catholic is averaging 48.3 points a game and are giving up 18.9. Rockcastle is averaging 31.9 points a game and are giving up 12.6. Their only common opponent this year is Harrison County. Lexington beat them 39-37 and Rock beat them 32-14. Both games were played at Harrison County. Any Harrison County fans or players want to give us their thoughts?

Rock deserved to win, but Mason's QB had around 280 passing and the team had over 400 yards of offense. Our QB did a great job and the running game was effective as well. I won't begin to get into why we didn't win, just to say that Rock found a way to get one more point and congratulations to them on doing so.

If our qb can produce each Friday like ours did in the Rock game, we will take it. ;)

Mason's QB was an exceptional player. One of the best the Rock has faced this year. Reminds a lot of people of Dustin Grutza, just not as big. He is a heck of a player and very effective. He and ashlamnds QB are the best in their dist.

This is the way I see it. If Rock controls the ball like they have been, they can win a close one. If they give the ball to LexCath very much, LexCath wins by two TDs or more.

This with be the best offensive team Rock has faced. I don't think can win a scoring battle with them. Rock will have a hard time running the ball even with their awesome line. I expect LC to stuff the hole with plenty of linebackers to stop the run. Rock's passing game will really have to be on. Their D is going to need some luck with Burke also. i say Rock pulls out the upset.

Rock 26

LC 24

I did not see a thread on this and thought I'd start one.

(It seems only Rock and LC fans want to talk about is the last game.)

Who takes this showdown and why?

Rock has come a long way since the start of the year. They are peaking at the right time but is it enough?

Lex Cath seems to have come together well with Burke as their leader. This could be their best chance to ever take a state title.

How do they matchup? A key I'd like to hear about is Rockastle's pass defense. They haven't faced an offense that is this diverse before (at least I don't think they have). Historically Rock's achilles seems to have been the pass. Boyle beat them soundly in their two prior Title game appearances with the passing attack. Will Lex Cath do the same?

Can the Lex Cath Defense stop Rock's ball control and ground game enough to get Burke and Company the ball and put up points?

What say you Knights and Rockets?

I'll go with Lex Cath finally getting to the Big Game.

Ashland was primarily a team which was solid in the passing game from the start but continued all year trying to develop a comparable running attack. Led by qb Ian Holbrook, the Tomcats had an ability to short pass/long yac or either light a secondary up quick with deep passing routes...they were very good at it. Prior to the Ashland/RC game, I believe Ashland considered Rocks secondary to be vulnerable and perhaps they underestimated the strength and speed of the RC pass rush. It seemed like they were playing with 12 men at times...you could probably count on one hand how many times Ashland was able to set up and throw the football. What made that pass rush even more significant was that the RC's secondary was very athletic....whats that old saying "agile, mobile and hostile"?

No prediction here although I am hoping Rockcastle brings it all home this year.

As much as I would like Rockcastle to win this, I think that this may very well be the year that Lexington Catholic breaks thru. This should be a great game, but Burke will be the difference.

After watching Rockcastle practice the last couple of days and hearing about Lex Cath's great passing game. I know now why Rock is practicing a lot of prevent and dime coverage. They seem willing to give up the run and stop the pass. This is very uncommon for them to abandon stopping the run. Who knows with a lot of luck maybe Rock can just stay close to them.

If they abandon the run they're in trouble. They have one heck of a RB and will make Rockcastle pay dearly.

Lex Cath also has a heck of a passing game and has sown it al yr long. The qb is also a very good runner. I heard he got hurt in the Highlands game, any word on that. I think Rock will drop 8 men and try to stop the pass, at least that is what it looked like yesterday.

The last time I saw Rockcastle play was three years ago when they soundly defeated the Bluebirds in the sate semi-finals on Rock's unbelievably sloppy home field. Given two key facts, (1) LexCath's defense has been completely inspired during the last two games and (2) the game will be played on LexCath's home turf (and without mud), I'd assume that the Knights will prevail.

Having said this though, Rockcastle County has a legendary program will bring the best game they've got. The Knights had better realize that and be prepared. If they are, I'd predict:

Lexington Catholic - 24

Rockcastle County - 14

Given the weather forecast for Friday (cold) and assuming the team is still bruised from last Friday's game in Ft. Thomas, I don't see this game being as high-scoring as games earlier this season.
