Still trying to figure out SK at #20...not exactly sure what makes them a top twenty team...they are considered one of the top 3 in the 8th Region, but most consider South Oldham and Oldham County to be better... I'm not anti-SK, just surprised to see them or any 8th Region team in the top 20. Honestly (and I'm a 35-year 8th region devotee; I'm not slamming the region - the reality is simply that the region is down a bit this year), I don't think any of the 8th Region teams have earned a spot in the top 20 yet. They'll have their chance to state their cases, but I certainly don't see where SK has a statement win that merits the top 20.

Beat a ranked Paducah Tilghman team by 23

Lost to a ranked Trinity team in OT

Lost to a ranked Bullitt East team

 

Lost to Lexington SC, by five in OT. Lexington is the SC defending 4A state champ and is 10-2

Lost to Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy by three. That school is 10-3.

Beat Fort Myers, the defending 2A champs in Florida.

 

Considering they arent at full strength, I'd say that are a top five team

Good to see Dixie and Covcath finally get some love out of the 9th.

 

I sure hope SK at #20 is a typo, though. SK has a nice team but considering their lack of success against a few unranked 9th and 10th region teams, I'd have to agree with the posters above that SK isn't a top 20 team.

Same could be said for Scott who has a losing record and is ranked in the NKY Coaches Poll top 10. A tough schedule is a tough schedule. I would tend to agree with the logic if they lost all of their tough games, but they have at least won one of them. Maybe CC doesn't deserve to be ranked #5, but they do deserve to be ranked.

As I do when this is brought up for football, you give me a chance, I'll put together a schedule that will have a team undefeated come this time. Give me one that doesn't have to play in a seed district and I just might get you a schedule to make you undefeated at the end. They can be #1 in your poll and the only undefeated team ever to lose in the first round of district.
