Ryle 74 Conner 53

Featured Replies

Fairly well played game by the Raiders as they dominated the Cougars. I was very surprised at how poorly Conner played. Ryle outhustled them, looked much sharper and much hungrier. Problems in Hebron so far for a team that was obviously overrated. Stauffer really slashed to the bucket on a number of occasions and ended up with over 20. Nice win for Ryle and an embarrassing loss for Conner.

So much for preaseason rankings, not worth the paper they were printed on.

Per KyPost.com

RYLE 74, CONNER 53 – Senior center Bobby Stauffer scored 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Raiders.

Stauffer scored 12 of his points in the fourth quarter to ice the game.

Senior guard Zack Perkins added 15 points for Ryle, which has won four of its last five.

Senior forward Jordan Liechty led Conner with 16 points, but the Cougars have dropped three out of four.

3-pointers: R—Miller 3, Mays, Perkins. C—Liechty, Flesch, Robinson, Maines. JV: Conner won.

Hodges has really started slowly, has he hit for double figures yet?

Looks like Conner was really over-rated. Stauffer must have dominated against Conner's bigs. Congrats to the Raiders.

I'm not sure about other games, but he did not do a good job tonight of aggressively taking the ball to the hole. I'll give Ryle's defense some credit, but he was a non factor tonight. Apologies about leaving a point off the board for Conner. It was 74-53.

I was in Union tonight to witness another waxing for the Cougars. Good game by the Raiders. Stauffer is very good and Perkins and Mullins both contributed alot. Conner never got started in this one. Their half court game is horrible and their fundamentals are lacking. The players do not look motivated and they got out hustled. This Conner team that came in as the preseason number one has a lot of talent. Hodges is one of the better players in the NKY. It is very sad to see such a disappointing display. At what point does the leadership come into question?

Agreed on all points. Not used to seeing Conner teams play like that, especially one with some darn good players. They'll probably build some confidence if they play some weaker teams over the holidays. I don't think I've seen a team regarded so highly in preseason play in such a disappointing fashion for a quarter of a season.

The classic Conner fan reaction. Been going on for years in Hebron. Stellman puts good teams on the field and gets nailed. Warfield puts good teams on the court and gets nailed. Hicks apparently is next and he must have suddenly forgotten how to coach. Watch out, Dave Trosper. You're next.

Or it could be the typical basketball fan's reaction. There were high expectations of this team and they have really disappointed. That is a fact. They have a loosing record and have dropped two district games by 20 plus. It is hard to argue with that. Area coaches thought enough of the talent to rank them the pre season number one.

I would think coach and players alike have to share the blame and fix the problem. I thought Conner was a shoo-in for the region this year - not so. Now, they may still make it to region, but not playing like they are right now.

We all know Conner is always better in March then they are in December.

Keep it real "Real". This is obviously not a thread about FB, and you obviously are uninformed with what Coach T has going on. Let's keep this thread on BB.

The Cougars obviously are spending too much time reading the Pre-season preview. Ryle is solid and Coach Hicks will likely address the issues at an early morning Saturday practice. What do you all think?

I saw Ryle at BOKC this past week end and while they're a good team, this score really surprises me.

Conner seems to be a little overrated and maybe we didn't give the other teams in the region enough credit.

I'm sure Coach Hicks will right the ship, but right now things aren't looking good out in Hebron.
