Heck, if Cooper didn't miss 15 free throws they may have beaten them as well. Conner, I'm told, has a lot of talent but do they have heart? Time will tell. I hope they turn it around before the post season.

The classic Conner fan reaction. Been going on for years in Hebron. Stellman puts good teams on the field and gets nailed. Warfield puts good teams on the court and gets nailed. Hicks apparently is next and he must have suddenly forgotten how to coach. Watch out, Dave Trosper. You're next.

Yeah Stellman had about 4 playoff wins in over 10 years as head coach. Warfield things that cannot be discussed. When did Hicks win a 9th Region title? Heck all this proves is that it does not matter how your team does on the field/court at Conner you have a position for life, if you just make it to practice.

It's a long season and Conner will have an opportunity to turn things around. Coach Hicks has a reputation for having his teams play better in February and March. With that being said Conner is just not playing hard and with any passion right now. I have watched two games and the effort just does not seem to be there. If a coach has to coach effort with a lineup with that many seniors that is not a recipe for success.

 

I thought the #1 ranking was a little high in preseason but still a top 5 team in a parity laden 9th. What I have seen in two games is not a top 5 team.

Botom line. The Cougars are better than their outcomes. I think a 3 - 4 record could be stomached if they were even in the games. Not since the 4 point loss to Dixie has Conner been in the game against a top tier opponent. Ryle is better than originaly thought, but they should not beat this year's Conner team like they did. I think everyone is well aware that Coach Hick's tends to have more sucess at the end of the year, but in a tough district the Cougars haven't been able to make it to regionals in quite a while.

I do agree with you on this comment. It's time for this team to start playing with some swagger and emotion and get downright nasty. They lack that "edge" you see top teams playing with. Ex. I witnessed a Conner player get stripped of the ball last night as he was going in for a shot under the basket and he wanted a foul called, but the whistle did not blow and the ball stayed in play. Instead of hustling back in bounds to live action, he just stared the ref down instead of getting back to the game as quickly as possible. Things like that have to stop. Furthermore, I continue to see 6'8" Hodges fouling players 30 feet from the basket. He needs to stop getting in early foul trouble and stay in the game. Time to get tough in Hebron boys.

I am not surprised at this result. Conner was way over-hyped this year and overrrated. They are good but not good enough thus far in the early parts of the season to hang with some of the best teams in the region (Boone, CCH, Dixie). CCH absolutely humiliated them on Tuesday and it seems that Ryle did the same.
