How will your team do next season?

I did South Laurel earlier, so I guess I should do North Laurel as well.

North Laurel loses about 8 seniors (I think). Cessna is the most notable, but they lost him during this past season due to his knee injury so by the end of the season they seemed to learn to adapt to playing without him. It was kind of painful to watch them lose close game after close game, but they finished pretty strong with a solid shocking win over Madison Central. They also lose Brock, Sizemore, and a few other solid contributors, but do bring back the bulk of the team for 2006. The player to watch next season will be Brandenburg who was a phenomenal talent at linebacker this season as a sophomore and really began to take over the defense as the season went on after Cessna went down. The majority of the offense will be back with Asher becoming a real big time player down the stretch. Maggard will be back as will Stuber, but not sure if he will be the QB or moved to RB as was rumored towards the end of last season although he did finish pretty strong as well. Basically, Asher will the the man on offense and Brandenburg will be the same on defense. I think this team could be improved if just a few of the younger kids step up and fill those holes from graduation. Coach Abott needs to get more consistency from the offense to get the Jaguars back into the playoffs. I would predict a 6-4 record for 2006. This is about all I have on them. Anyone have other information?

Madison Central will be in a rebuilding year. They lost about 20 seniors. Some of the notable ones are:

Ronnie Letcher

Paul Warford

Andrew Mathis

It is reported that the Indians will have a good freshman class coming up.

Their QB looks pretty solid too me. The three you mentioned will be very difficult to replace. But they always seem to find a way to fill those holes. When Stuntson graduated a few years ago along with a lot of linemen, everyone thought they would be rebuilding and they once again went undefeated in the district that season. They are still Madison Central and will be solid again I am sure.

They will finish the job--building on the foundation laid down by this year's seniors. :thumb:

Us Boyle fans can say the same, see you at the 2006 State Finals. ;)

Danville only loses 1 starter at the skilled positions (I think). The also will lose a couple of valuable players off the lines. If they can put together an offensive line next year, they should be back in the hunt.

Clown, my scout report from Friday says 8 Jr. starters on O (4 of 5 OL), and 7 on D. I think you all will be the favorites next year.

The Indians didn't lose 20 players to graduation the year Stunson graduated. They also had Thomas Estill along with the players I mentioned earlier returning the next season.

Perhaps a rematch is in the future? ;)

Madison Central loses 23 seniors, they will return 3 starters on each side of the ball.

Chaz Hope will return as QB, JT Hess, Dexter Chenault, Ramsey Morten all three linemen, Jonathon Miller ILB, and Rickey Rhodes corner/safety. Keyshawn Simpson, a freshman, saw some playing time towards the end of the year, I expect to see him get a lot of playing time next year, very athletic. They have another very athletic freshman, Isaiah Kavanaugh, who may see some significant playing time. I don't know much about any of their other freshmen or sophomores. They may not win the district next year in 2006 but watch out for them in 2007. Coach Turner will have them ready.

Surprisingly, I think the team to beat in our District may be Bethlehem. They return almost everyone. I they could just get some numbers out there we might have some threads for them in the future.

I look for JC to be a better team next year than they were this past year. We lose 8 seniors off of our 8-3 team but 7 of those seniors had starting positions.

In all JC returns 7 starters on offense: Shawn Grimm RB, Blake Johnson FB, Ousley C, Ryan Baldwin G, Cody Conley TE, Micheal Tackett TE, and Tommy Taylor WR. Look for Junior J.K. Ratliff to step in at the QB position. Not quite as strong and fast as Shawn Music was better is a good passer with a strong arm. Also look for Ian Welch to step in at the other running back position. Good runner that looked very solid carrying the ball limited times as a freshman.

On the Defensive side of the ball JC returns 8 starters: Ryan Baldwin DT, Blake Johnson LB, Micheal Tackett LB, Cody Conley DE, Shawn Grimm DE, Tommy Taylor DB, Craig Hampton DB, and Ian Welch S. This ought to be a solid Defense next year with all 8 starters getting valuable PT and game experience. JC D should keep them in alot of low scoring affairs next year.

I look for Coach Matney to take this group of solid players and train them hard in the weight room to come out and push ppl around next year. Dont know the schedule of JC for next season but if i was guessing JC will have the same if not better record next season and be one of two contending teams for the District Title next year. I think that it is all going to rely on how fast that JK Ratliff can come in at the QB position and run the offense effiecently and smoothly in game pressure situations. Should be exciting next season and i cant wait.

dixie ill be really good next year

Hopefully, much better. And they should be. Breathitt played a slew of freshmen and sophomores this year, so that experience and another year of maturity should mean a much stronger team. A district championship should be back in reach. A state title is probably not realistic, but they'll just have to work hard, play the games and see how things look in 2A next year. I really think the Bobcats are another year or two away from having another elite team. And that's not a given, just a possibility because I think the potential is there. But potential doesn't mean a think if it goes unrealized.

Dixie will have alot of returning players next year and an amazing Senior class to lead the way so look for us to have another great year.

Lynn Camp will be pretty good again. They lost 8 Seniors but have all five starting linemen back and a 1000 yard rusher back in Joe Roskopf. They also return there front seven back on defense. The offense will return six starters back. With a good off season hitting the weights the Cats could be right back in the mix for a district and regional championship.
