At this pointi I think it will be Schultz (as a place kicker). He looked pretty good in the games I saw him. As a punter, I thought Bobby Plau, from the freshman team, was a good punter. There are a lot of freshman, Wrobleski, Hergott, Greene, Harris, Hayes etc., who will make their presence felt on the varsity next year.

Weinel will be very, very tough to replace. I think his greatest asset was his ability to kick it into the endzone consistentanly. Not real sure who replaces him unless a Soccer player wants to be a State Champion. LOL.

I think the PATs will be ok and some short FG but at the moment there does not appear to be anyone that will fill Weinel big shoe.

Gabe Schultz was kicking off pretty deep in JV games, not like Weinel but definitely doing a serviceable job. Adam Weinel had a heckuva career for the Birds, wish him the best.

Maybe the Birds will find another big ole lineman to bash it through the end zone ala Rosenhagen!!

I heard that they had a kid in the FTJFL that hit field goals of 29 and 39 yards in games this year against the Blue team. In fact, a parent of a blue teamer won a little "jack" from the announcer on the day of the 39-yarder as to whether or not a middle school kid could make a field goal of that distance. He cannot help next year because he has another year in the FTJFL.

Hey JOAT, I wouldn't be too sure. Why couldn't he play up and start to gain the needed experience. If I'm not mistaken, there really isn't a stud kicker in this years 8th grade class. I think that is one position that is wide open for some good competition.

As a 7th grader that is impressive! If memory serves me correctly this boy could boot a soccer ball in grade school. He is quite an athlete.

He wants to do more than just kick so it probably would not be beneficial for him to step out of his class to compete on the Frosh level.
