As a long time Bluebird fan, grandpa of a jr. player who watches lots of football practices, I am so happy for Corey to be able to compete in the 2010 Championship game. He has suffered much time off due to injuries and throughout his high school, worked so hard. His reward was tonight with an outstanding performance. I can't wait to see the film of the game; because I know many of the holes for Pat and the other backs were created by Corey getting a helmet on a linebacker.

Highlands offense is completely different with Corey in the game. He was the X factor tonight. Patrick looked much more confident knowing Corey was around. I watched that kid play his heart out and fight for every square inch of yardage this afternoon. What a way for the kid to end his career. Hats off to Corey and his gutsy effort.

Did anyone notice a large contingent of the Christian Co. fan base bolt for the exits at halftime? By post game, the seats were darn near empty for the runner-up trophy presentation. It's not like they had a 4 hr drive. I've noticed in my old age that fan support goes a long way in helping the kids on the field. Community support plays a huge role in the success of Highlands football. Also, wanted to say that it was nice getting to meet some of my BGP foes like Sweeperboy (aka Swiffer), LN, and T-Birds as well as Family Tradition that is more ate up with hunting than myself.

Last night they put the exclamation point on a great season!

Best wishes for a speedy recovery to #54-Keenan Wiegand (Sr) and #53-Robby Nienaber (Sr), the two O-Linemen that went out of the game with injuries. The strength of this year's team brought the Birds to this great season! 20n10!

Sweep told me on Thursday that Compton would be a huge factor in the game and would be a difference maker in the game. He was dead on. Congrats Birds on a great season!

Looks like POY Candidate Tandy was held to 39 yards on 13 carries???? Uber impressive. Also, I believe the Birds only penalty might have been the false start on the victory formation at the end of the half? About as near to perfect as you can play.

If winning shares were given out I would be nominating The Guru for one. These boys were sick and tired of hearing the word "mediocre" describe their team.

Great game by the BIRDS. 20n10 was achieved. Defense was great all night and the offense just did what it wanted, period. Six to's makes it that much more impressive. CC had a nice team and a lot of athletes to compete, but Coach W had his defense meeting in the backfield all night long. I think LN stated before the game that he wanted the QB to beat em with his arm and not his legs. The Birds D must have heard this loud and clear all weak long as I think he may have seen the Bluebirds defenders in his sleep last night as they never let up on him.

 

Dale stated in the paper that this was the teams best performance and I for 1 agree. The Birds heeled up and all showed up tonight. Having Com pton back was crucial. Gave the Birds the ground game that was unstoppable. Having 29 on defense was a boost as he was a leader early in the year. Putting it all together in BG was magical.

 

21n11 looks ready for the taking at the 4A level. Get to work boys and keep this thing rolling. Go Birds.
