Grant County Football Coaching Search

Featured Replies

If they did, that usually the first sign that a school is getting serious about football.

The new head coach will only be as good as the staff around him. If they have fired the entire staff, this means that the new coach will have to bring in a new staff. Is the administration willing to hire assistant coaches as teachers. Most are not willing to do this. This could backfire on the football program. Unless he gets his new assistants teaching jobs in the school, are they going to be willing to drive 30 minutes to coach football every day?

If they let everyone go, they must be willing to hire new people and put them in the building. Otherwise, they wouldn't make this move...I wouldn't think.

I also heard that they let the entire coaching staff go!! Does anyone know if there is any truth to that?

I just got word from a close source to the program that the assistant coaches are still there and running the winter program. Good luck to the coaches and the football program, hope they get on track!

Are they getting turf put down and I even heard rumor of the administration looking to build a new indoor facility (from a reliable source). Sounds like Grant County is wanting to build itself a football program to me?

I haven't heard anything about the turf, but I think It sounds like the right direction.

budget/position issues are not issues to an administration that is committed to being successful at football. Look at the top academic schools in the state and they are also good at football. Football season sets the climate for the year. Fact! GC has no interest in being a good football program. The assist pay is almost insulting for a 5A school and they allow the parents WAY too much say so. Especially for a community that hasn't even had football very long, therefore MOST of the parents in the community have never played football or went to a school that had football. GC should be a great job but it never will because of priorities. Honestly from what i know of GC they would rather cater to a girls basketball coach than get a top notch football coach. No tradition and no one in power wanting to establish tradition = bad job!!! Wake up GC and commit to something!

Budget is a legit issue in the state right now in education period. Try explain to a parent or in court that a special needs student is not getting the services that are required by law because there is no funding. Yet there is funding to create some position so a coach is paid to do nothing but coach. Now if the budget was different than yes you can create positions like like. The current Super was Owen Huak's (sp?) OC for years and won a state tittle in IN.

Some NKY/CCH people will remember 2005 grad Pat Burke who played DE at CCH and then Union College. He's coaching there.

Anyone that knows anything about GC knows that the School Board runs the show in that district. You could hire Bill Parcels to come in and be Sup and it won't matter. Oh and they have "found" positions for both boys and girls head basketball coaches. Why do you ask, because the school board only cares about basketball.

I'm well aware of how the district runs. If a parent wanted to they could have an issue with "found" positions. Yet to say funding is not an issue with public schools is just not being realistic about the current economy and school budgets.

I thought I saw in a previous post that the boosters club raises 100K plus per year. That is amazing! It doesnt sound like money is a big problem. Can someone who knows elaborate?

From almost the program's inception nearly 20 years ago, the boosters have hosted weekly bingo. Right now they're doing it twice a week. In the beginning (at the old high school - current middle school) they were responsible for funding a lot of the major projects. I believe they may have had a role in some/all of the following: bleachers, pressbox, lights, scoreboard.

Now that they're at the current high school, all of that was included in the initial construction phase, so I don't know that they've had to do anything like that lately. I believe they still help out with funding for the camps and of course jersey's and/or equipment. How much that differs from some other programs I don't know.

They fund youth league, MS and HS programs. Board and previous super told HC "No Bingo, No Football."

Still no hire???

It would be a great job to have if you can tolerate the boosters! Sounds like a coup took place in Dry Ridge!
