Dry Ridge Mafia?

Funny, and I like it.

But, in all seriousness, if the booster club is funding every level of the football program aren't they essentially in charge of the program?

Sounds like a dangerous idea to me. And, it sounds like this Dry Ridge mafia may have much more teeth than the Park Hills or Ft. Mitchell mafia.

Has anyone heard anything about the coaching search? Have they interviewed anyone yet or made a hire. Seems to me that the administration would have a coach in place by now, considering that the position has beem open since early november. I would think they would have more of a sense of urgency, if they want to turn the program around?

They have interviewed and they might have one more left.

KCumbria....Sounds to me like you are someone holding a grudge? If you know as much about the booster organization as you'd like to have everyone think ..then you know that they are very dedicated people who volunteer their time to ensure that the football players of Grant County have everything they need (from the youth league through the high school). These hardworking people don't ask for "tolerance" or ask to be "tolerated". They ask for the same respect they give to be given back to them in return. They love Grant County Football and because of that they bust their tails twice a week year round working bingo to support their football program. Yes, they are extremely excited to see what the coming season brings with the coaching change(s) and contrary to popular belief....they did not fire the past coach. I'd say he hung himself!

I would say that is a very one-sided view of circumstances. NO parent or group of PARENTS can have any influence on a program if it is to be sucessfull, whether they work bingo or not. From what I understand, work ethic and expectations have to be greatly increased in the Grant County community for their football program to become a sucess.

barrel, do you know any of the names of the coaches that have been interviewed?

How did he hang himself? Arrogance?

With this job, there needs to be a situation of mutual respect and the understanding of the need to co-exist, between the coach and the boosters.

First to the boosters...yes, there have been MANY good-intentioned volunteers in the booster program over the years, who have done more than their share of work (bingo, etc.) and they should be wholeheartedly applauded. There have been others, however, who got involved with the program only when their son reached high school, and looked at it (the boosters) as a way for their boy to gain "favor" with the coach. Many times this presents a "one bad apple" type of scenario...and everybody gets lumped in together.

How can you tell the difference between the two? Well, most of the time (and I'm making a blanket statement here, that has obvious exceptions)...those that join the program well before their son enters high school and/or stay with the boosters after their son graduates...are truly there for the benefit of the program. Those that are there for just one or two or maybe three years...may have other intentions.

And since football in Grant County is still in its infancy compared to some of the "legendary programs"...the boosters have supplied a lot of money to areas that might otherwise have gone unfunded by the school district itself. The coach needs to recognize that and understand the benefits from that. The coach doesn't have to cater to the boosters...but he should respect them.

But, with that said, the boosters need to realize that the coach is the one that makes the decision on the field. There can be only one general. There can't be 20 or 30 people whispering in the coach's ear during the season about what should or shouldn't be done, or who should or shouldn't be playing. If you, as a parent, have a problem with the coach...you go to the AD as an individual the same way a parent in any other sport would have to. You don't go recruit other people who have connections (because they contribute time/money to the program) and try to get them to voice their vote (as a block) against the coach.

Simply put, if either side has the "well, if you don't like it, I'll take my ball and go home" attitude, it's the program (and the kids) that suffers. This is not the first time this has happened at Grant County...and unless something changes...it probably won't be the last. Just my opinion.

I agree 100% with you Cincysportsfan and couldn't have said it better myself.

Heard they have there candidates all lined up. Any word on who they are?

Who is applying for this job? Who is or was the coordinators there? are they applying for the job?
