I'm not sure i can agree with (Ramona) on the comments made by Holy Cross coach. Holy Cross coach (according to Ramona) states thay HC moved the ball on MHS ALL NIGHT, well of the 267 yards they got on the ground, 124 of them were on 2 plays early in first qtr, and they had only 31 in the air. Just an observation.

It's been going on for years with Coach Glaser:

 

We've got the:

 

"You can't beat an All-American in 2003."

 

All you 8th graders come to X and we'll play you after the 2005 regular season game,

 

The best team didn't win state in 2005,

 

We "nearly won a state championship" entry in the football program,

 

We only lost 2 games in 2006 (rain year)

 

After 2007 Final loss "(Trinity) is not any better than us," he said. "They're state champions, but they're not better than us. I stand by that."

2008 best team didn't win again.

 

 

2010 regular season "loss by 48 wasn't really that bad because Trinity kept trying to score."

 

and now...

 

"I don't think they're 35-7 better than us" and "The whole thing went the way we wanted it to go except the mistakes we made."

 

 

They used to be comical. Now they are just sad.

I have to admit that I didn't miss Oxnard's comments. He makes snide, cheap shot comments about Trinity and then disapears if his Tigers lose. Who needs it.

As CentreRocks has noted, both Alan60 and I have been saying all season that this Trinity team was the best Rock squad ever (at least until next year). Despite much skepticism from the BGP Rock community, I think that the results this season have proven us somewhat correct.

 

I was very encouraged by the Tigers performance in the 1st half last night, but the writing was on the wall when Trinity quickly took advantage of Hall's fumble to go ahead by two scores early in the 2nd half. For us to have a chance, we had to play mistake-free and control the ball. Once behind by double digits, the lack of passing efficiency at QB again reared its ugly head.

 

Congratulations to the Rocks and good luck against Ryle and Male/Scott County moving forward.

The post was not related so much to his interpretation of the stats as to his willingness to give credit to the team that just beat his team. He took up for his kids (AOK) but he also gave credit where it was due. This is rare from Coach Glaser, at least where THS is concerned. I was just contrasting the quote styles. Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks for the congrats OX! This game kinda went the way I thought it might. Both teams coming out of the gate strong and with a lot of confidence. After the Tigers first offensive position the Rocks adjusted to X's one-dimensional play calling and shut them down. I guess Glazer's big change was the wishbone! Not very creative... With NO passing game, down by two scores it was to difficult for X to come back. You could see Hall and Beech cramping and slow to get up from playing both ways. Again, X seemed disorganized on there substitution pattern and play calling. Not something you see at this late juncture of the season. Glazer is a great guy off the field, but he is in terrible denial concerning which team is the better team. 82-7 say's it all... Nice hand shake at the end of the game. Also, great PA announcer for the game... what a voice!!! It's on to Ryle for a date with the Raiders. Should be a great game! GO ROCKS! #20!

I have stated on here several times that X was the Defending State Champ - until dethroned.

NOw that has happened.

As for the Tiger's HC -- I agree with an earlier poster. It is just plain sad. CR compiled a great list.

Funny how things come around. Didn't see him waving his cap last night - except maybe at his team when he had to burn some early TO's.

I think you are right on. I just don't think Coach Glazer will do it. He knows that he is successful with his running game. Has won state and beaten Trinity in the past. He will just say they have better talent this time. Why change.

Bitter? Warts? What is a bitter wart? Who even eats warts to know if they are bitter? No warts and not at all bitter. How could I be bitter? I have a great wife, wonderful kids (Sacred Heart and Trinity graduates), grandkids that are a never ending joy, a great job that I love doing, pays well and makes the world a better place. And I also have a fifty year association with the finest group of people it has ever been my honor to work with, the Trinity community. After fifty years I know the "actual essence" of Trinity and it is just fine. When you aren't on some message board I'm sure you are a good guy, but your never ending cheap and uninformed shots at Trinity are tiresome, petty and frankly betray some "bitterness".

 

Now to the game. Unlike some, I believe that in this case Coach Glaser set up a game plan that gave his team its best chance of winning. In the first game they tried to imitate Trinity's passing attack and dug themselves a big hole. You have to do what you are good at. Last year that was good enough. This year it wasn't. I thought the X kids fought hard. I was very proud of the Trinity kids. They could have panicked when X was still there at the half but instead they dug deep and executed their game plan. Keep up the focus for next week and bring it home.

I'd love to know what those standards are. Or at least what they are perceived to be. Anyone at the game knows that A) X should have had at least two penalties for late hits out-of-bounds; B) they had a player (i'm told it was Hall) that took a cheap shot on Steffey possibly ending his season; C) they have a head coach who never accepts defeat gracefully.

Shouldn't be too hard to maintain those standards.

Not what a meant at all but nice try. The make up of this series is different than the 80's and 90's when it was a rivialry of Catholic boys vs now who can load up.

Enjoy your trip to Ryle. They were some of the best fans to come into Thomas More Paige Stadium last year. I was looking forward to paying them a visit.

Too early to say that Alan. Trinity's success and accolades can not be measured by wins over St. X this year, but rather a state title. As you and Ox and even the coach said, X was way, way down this year and didn't have the talent. Accordingly, beating X twice by an average of 42-4 isn't a good indicator this year of this Trinity team's place in history. We shall see.
