My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious...

 

Rumors like this with zero substance only hurt all the kids involved. I'm pretty sure Boone County already has a coach. Also, Holmes "weak" schedule was made 3 years ago following 4-6 and 3-8 seasons including a loss Lloyd in 2008 and a loss to Scott in 2007. How about we give the kids at Holmes some credit for working hard and turning the program around? Those kids face many daily challenges beyond football that kids from other towns would be crushed by, but they fight through and still had time to turn a losing football program into a winning program. How about we begin cheering the doer rather than kicking them when they are down. Those kids have accomplished a lot!

Hell, Ron Madrick (AD for Holmes) never gets angry and he was absolutely furious about that holding penalty that negated Holmes' game winning td in the closing minute of the game. That alone should tell you the refs, not the kids, decided this game.

Actually not surprised too much. WJ is better than they showed against Boyle this year.

 

I hear you but everything I heard about Holmes and taking last year's game against LexCath into account had me believing we would be playing Holmes in the Regional Finals.....not LexCath or West Jessamine.

The players and coaches involved withe the Holmes football program have much to be proud of. Those close to the program understand the magnitude of the advancement of this football program. The events that lead to the loss on Friday night were upsetting to all involved and it is disheartening to read the negative comments. I think posters need to think about the ramifications of comments that are non-factual opinions before they spew negativity.

West Jessamine won the game. They took advantage of the opportunities presented to them and Holmes did not. Simple as that.

Holmes played poorly in the first half up until the INT that was run back for a TD.

You simply can't have turnovers in the redzone and have one of those result in a touchdown.

I heard there were 27 penalties called in the game. Unreal. There was no rhythm to the game with all the stoppages and the refs were slow in deliberation on practically all of them. The spots were iffy all night and it took them forever to spot the ball.

They wouldn't ask for measurements on some spots and they called for one when it WJ easily had the first down by more than a yard. The game didn't end until around 10:30...

I thought Holmes was hurt when #7 Simpson got hurt. He seems to be one of their better runners between the tackles. Without him most of their money relied on Jensen scrambles.

WJ has a solid little team. I think they are looking for some revenge on Lex Cath next week.

West Jessamine does have a very good team. Big and aggressive. And Holmes didn't play as well as they can. But that doesn't change the fact that a Holmes touchdown that was called back for holding (that no one can find on film), would have been the winning touchdown for Holmes.

I didn't watch the game. Don't claim to have seen anything on film. But if a kid scored. Then it was called back for a hold the referee did decide the game in the favor of West Jessamine. If a hold was not called and there was holding then they would have decided the game in favor of Holmes.

I doubt that there was anyone at the game grading the officials unless it was the local assignor who works for Holmes. If your an official, you had a heart beat, or you could fog a mirror last week, you were working in the first round of the KHSAA playoffs. I'm not saying that the officials that worked the game were poor, but until the KHSAA restructures the football playoff system, it's possible that you'll have less than experienced officials working the first round of the playoffs.

I've seen plenty of "veteran, experienced" officials blow calls too! State championship games come to mind as do some of the televised contests.

I'll agree with you there. Even the best official has an off day. For the most part however, the deeper you go in the playoffs, the officiating pool should be more experienced. Especially with regard to the officials from Louisville, Northern Ky, and Lexington. However, there are parts of the state that don't have as many officials, and those assignors really have no choice but to send younger/less experienced officials out in the playoffs.

Granted Holmes didn't do the proper things throughout the game to put them in a position where that call doesn't affect the outcome, when an official makes a call that NOBODY can see on several different films and angles of the game, a person has a legit argument that a call cost them the game. Especially when the call negates a Td that would have changed who wins the game and who loses.

 

Unless you were there, you wouldn't understand. The guys I work with are both Newcath grads and even they said the call was horrible.

 

Ernst told us after the game that it took a lot of "fortitude" to make that call in that situation.
