So the post that was put on here months ago still stands...why bother playing the game? just send the trophy to the Cards and save us the long cold 4 weeks of waiting.

Come on...no way you can spend time on BGP's and no know that 75% of the posts are related to HHS or make some refence to the Bird's...which is ironically what I ended up doing with this 1A thread

 

Agree, there are a bunch of fans from the other 1A contenders loving the fact they are left out of the chatter and would love nothing more than to rain on our parade.

OR - not ruling out LCA at all - just trying to look at facts and use cerebral logic to contribute to this thread - my heart still is picking the Eagles (LCA that is) - but I am also a realist and I honestly think 4 of the top 6 1A teams are in the BW/MF bracket...

 

As for cerebral logic, out of all the things that I have been accused of I have never been accused of that :lol:. I am soooo glad you specified the "LCA" Eagles, I was about to lose all faith in you. :ohbrother: :lol:

Not much talk on BGP about Hazard. What kind of team are they? Their offense and do they have a strong defence?

When Beechwood played them in 08 what was your opinion of them going into the game then after?

Hazard in '08 was a very strong, hard nosed team. They had 3 or 4 top level athletes that carried the load and the rest of the team was well coached and did their job. They were one of the few teams in '08 that Beechwood didn't wear down with their big line and power running game. Offensively, they weren't able to do much that I recall. Their defense is what kept them in the game. Hazard will be a tough team to beat. If you look at their stats this year, they appear to have an incredible passing game. Their QB's numbers are silly good.

I am sure crunch remembers .... and I think it holds true.

Mayfield is so much better than the rest of the state ... that a win over them would rank somewhere between miracle and divine intervention.

You can try to make it act like I am messing with Mayfield people ... but whatever.

You guys are NOT shy about how you think things will work out. (And we both know where we can find that information--even if it isn't here).

I am not real sure why you think that you should jump on my opinion for thinking the same thing.

Ok, I am a lifelong Mayfileld fan and here are my opinions, Mayfiled was not 38 points better than Beechwood last year, LCH would have beaten Mayfield 10 out of 10 games last year had they played that many, LCH was WAY better than MHS! Shelton is gone and so is Murrell, but as a team this MHS team is VERY quick. Jackson had a ankle injury in last years championship game and had he been healthy would have made some difference but not enough! Jackson is by far the best sophmore athlete to ever play at MHS! This guy will hurt you! MHS cand distribute the ball to so many players and Guhy has been outstanding this year. Yes their schedule has been weaker this yeat but the starters have only played 2 complete games all year, Paducah Tilghman and Crittendon Co. Will that mean a lot as conditioning is concerned? Who knows. I dread going to Louisville Holy Cross. I dread going to Beechwood if we are lucky enough to beat Beechwood, But I would love a chance to play Hazard in the Title game! By what I have read if we are lucky enough to get that far it shoud be a good game. I know it will take a very good team to beat MHS!

Just curious. Why would you love to play Hazard in the Title game. I'm from Hazard and I found the comment interesting. Good luck in the playoffs. Maybe, just maybe, you'll get your wish and it'll be a good game.

I too would love to play Hazard because it would mean we made it to the title game after a tough road through the playoffs and because Hazard it far and away the most dominate team on that side of the bracket and they have some big wins over higher classed opponets that are ranked fairly high. Besides if we do win it I want to know we beat the best

I believe that if Beechwood plays anyone the way they played Newport Catholic last week that they are going to be tough for anyone. I'm narrowly giving them the nod for state.
