Mayfield has has the best team and coming off a state runner up last year.

I voted Beechwood!!

But I have said all year that Mayfield is the #1 team in the state. Mayfield has the experience, speed, size and talent they need at the skilled positions. So why did I pick Beechwood? Maybe because of last weeks game!! Maybe because they are closer to my home. Maybe because it's just a gut feeling! I think Mayfield has to prove it to me I guess. They have basically the same team back. But with more experience. But they got their butts handed to them it that last game last year. So do they do a complete turnaround in the championship game if they make it? Or do they just make the score alot closer this season? I feel like Beechwood and Mayfield are the two best teams in 1A. Beechwood sure has played a tougher schedule. And has survived. Matter fact they have done a heck of a job just by keeping kids healthy!! I guess I just feel like they've earned my vote!!! Anyway good luck to both!!!

RFC, you could be right. Beechwood also has an unmatched tradition of class A playoff appearances, wins and championships. At this time of the season, tradition and championship experience is a big factor. I frankly went out on a limb by picking Mayfield.

I picked Beechwood over Mayfield simply because of Strength of Schedule...Beechwood has managed its way thru a very difficult schedule with tougher District foes as well...

I am not trying to take anything away from any other team - just my opinion - kind of like there is no way that TCU or Boise State should ever be considered for the National Championship - because their schedules are weak.

Mayfield's schedule strength will come back to haunt them in the Semi-final game - again IMO.

 

I like the entire field of teams this year and look for teh final four to be LCA vs Hazard & Beechwood vs Mayfield - which will be some very fun football to watch.

good point Snake - again no offense implied - just offering my opinion and I have not seen either BW or MF play this year - just looking at their scores and schedules. Good luck to all of the teams throughout the playoffs.

Could be SS2000! My better half says I'm wrong about 50% of the time!! And I'm only right on here about the same. I do believe Mayfield is #1. Sometimes the #1 seed gets upset!! Thats all I was trying to say.

Bellevue, Dayton, Ludlow, BBrossart...Thats not exactly what I'd call world beaters...Bellevue was pretty solid last year, not so much this year...I think Crittenden Co would be head and shoulders over any of those and Ballard Memorial would likely be 4-0 or 3-1 against them, too...Now, Fulton Co and Fulton City, can't argue there, but, every 1a district in the state has those type teams...They certainly aren't any worse than say a Paris, Dayton, Gallatin, Caverna, Phelps, for example...I agree that Mayfield's schedule hasn't been up to par vs past schedules they've had, but, they've still played some teams that would be Top 10 teams in 1a in Graves Co, Caldwell Co, Tilghman and then Trigg Co, who's traditionally a Top 10 2a team, a 2nd 6a team in Marshall Co and a 4a Calloway team, who's just 2 yrs removed from a 4a Final 4 team. Albeit, the latter 3 are down this year from past yrs, but, who's to know that a year or 2 in advance when the schedules are made...There's been many a year when Mayfield has played the rugged schedule and it helped them in the playoffs...Hopefully, playing a subpar schedule won't come back to haunt them this year...I really don't think it will, but, you never know...

I realize that Mr. Snakeshot. I guess it's that I (meaning Raceland) have been beaten by Beechwood so many times they are stamped on our backside . No disrespect intemded and remember, I did pick Mayfield. :thumb:
