Jude or Bradley?

Featured Replies

There has been a lot of talk concerning Jude's record setting performance last week. Last night, Dvontae Bradley of Cooper High School rushed for 410 yards in a game his team lost to Conner 46-40. The newspaper said it was the #15 rushing performance in state history. The question is which performance deserves more recognition - setting the record in the manner Jude's coach went about it or Bradley's performance in a game that ended in a goal line stand?

Also last night in Danville vs Washington Co. district championship game where WC was undefeated, Danville's Patrick Brand rushes for 480+ yards. How about his performance.

Bradley hands down

that was what I was about to post ThinThirty. Brand's performance, in a struggle of a game against good competition is more impressive IMO. :thumb:

Here is the AM article on the game:

Yes, I saw that in the game thread and was going to include him in this thread but it was after the edit time limit had passed. So definitely include that performance in the discussion. Brand/Bradley or Jude? Do these performances diminish Jude's coaching enhanced performance even further? If Jude had gone for 400-450 in a different manner would we all be singing his praises versus questioning how it happened? Did Coach Mayney hurt Jude more than he helped him and is there a lesson to be learned?

Corey Lyle ran for 451 yards last night in the Greenup County game versus East Carter. He could have easily broken the state record but the Coach wisely pulled him at the end of the 3rd quarter.

Bradley's performance is the most impressive, IMO, for the simple fact that Conner is likely the best team that all 3 set their marks against.

Saw Bradley play at Johnson Central. He's good, have no doubt. And in Cooper's multiple-set offense, he's a weapon. But, Jude, I think, is marginally faster, and runs as hard as any back you'll see. If you haven't seen him, wait until you do. You can hit him in the backfield. That doesn't mean he's going down. And he's shifty. If you miss him, he's going to run a very long way.

I don't think they are comparing the players skills as much as which accomplishment is more impressive. One, the coach "goes for the record" when the game is clearly in hand and the other is a back and forth game down to the wire. I saw Jude week 1 as well and he is very good and fun to watch. Good luck to JC in the playoffs.

Keeping the coaches out of the decision i'm going with Jude hands down. Great kid & awesome back.

I have always been of the thought process of limiting touches, keep the game respectful and save your players from risk of injury. Records are nice, that's why stats are kept but there are coaches out there that have had players that could have amassed the same type of stats but did not feel that it was necessary to win and take those chances.

Keeping a player in a game to set records does not display class IMO. Bradley's accomplishment was against a competitive team where the game went down to the wire and to me is more appreciative than letting a stud running back rack up yards when you have obviously defeated your opponent. Congrats to all three kids though, because 400+ yards in a single game is something you should be proud of and will be hard top.

I don't care if they were "going for the record" or not. The fact is is that the kid did it, not the coach. Both performances are incredible though.

Bradley was much more impressive. This is comparing apples to oranges. Only one af these accomplishments was set with the game hangning in the balance. The other was done simply for the sake of doing it.

Yes, they are all three great running backs. I just believe the thread was asking which was the most impressive. Not just any back can get those kind of yards, you have to have speed, power and talent.
