Since X and T are "common schools," I think that they may just have to rotate playing football then. X gets to play in 2015 and 2017 and T in 2016 and 2018. That is the only way to give other 6A schools a fair shot.

 

If that doesn't work, and District 4 STILL ends up with 4 championships, then for the next round, each team gets to play only one year. Yeah, that'll work!

They thought that it would lessen the disparity between ths smallest and largest schools in both classes, since these classes both have the greatest percentage difference in enrollment from top to bottom. It will help a little, but the new system will still have the top in both classes having double the amount of males in the schools over the bottom.

The first cut at dividing the 6 classes as simply divide 221 by 6. Simple enough. Now there is a limitation on the largest and smallest classes? Picking up 5 schools in 1A changes the A2YBoy count from 200 to 211 - about a 5% change. And at the 6A end the count goes from the count goes from 705 to 671 - again about a 5% change.

 

If you do not do this arbitrary constraining then there is no real reason for radical changes to the current classes. What was broken and why did this new alignment provide a fix? KHSAA should answer that basic question when they make changes as substantial as this. And they should answer formally. I am not saying these constraints are bad or wrong. But basically, the rational and reason should be made available.

I'm not a state employee that has certain statutes and bylaws he needs to abide by.

I know how you feel about the idea of Louisville being on both sides of the bracket geographically, how would you balance it out then? Would you make it so teams from Lexington or NKY played the west while the teams in Louisville never left Jefferson county during the playoffs? Fact of the matter is that a third of the 6A teams in Louisville and there are very few in the west so the best thing to do is to make the westernmost Louisville district part of that bracket. It puts the WKY folks a good hour to hour and a half closer to all their potential playoff opponents. That makes more sense to me than gerrymandering things to keep Louisville on once side of the bracket. I don't care which side we are on by the way.

BUT there are still 3 districts with Louisville teams so there could still be a championship game with 2 Louisville teams.
