None of the three teams joining Oldham will have to drive excessive distances. If when they looked at the N. Ky district of 4A they felt that the east bracket was stronger and they wanted to move Highlands to the west to help ensure a stronger championship game, but Highlands didn't belong in the west because some team farther to the west was placed in the east, I'd be criticizing the heck out of the KHSAA for gerrymandering the brackets to set up strong championship games even if being in the west meant an easier road for Highlands. That's not the KHSAA's responsibility to manipulate who makes the state game or who doesn't make the state game.

In regard to the 12 Jefferson County-area schools in 6-A, Tackett said he started drawing the districts with Oldham County and decided Ballard and Eastern were the closest schools. From there, filling out the district was a choice between Fern Creek and Seneca, Tackett said.

Fern Creek is 1 mile east of Trinity. If you adjusted for magnetic north they might even line up north-south. It's just not a compelling argument when you look at the map, especially when there are good reasons why Fern Creek should be with Southern, Seneca and Male while Trinity should be with Eastern and Ballard.

Can you point out to me where Tackett mentions anything about Trinity being east of Fern Creek? I can't find it.

Discrimination is also positive at times in terms of being selective. If Trinity were left out of the Manual, X, Male district, "discrimination" as a negative could perhaps be claimed by T becuase they felt they were left out of the district that best fit the school. Male has more in common with Fern Creek than any other school, considering they're both Traditional magnets.

I'm guessing Dunbar will be moved when the new McCracken school opens in a year or two. Muhlenberg County would likely move into District 2.

From what I know, St. X., Trinity and Manual have a great deal in common and seem like a clear fit for a district.
