My only question is if there are 11 weeks in a season, why would Danville and Boyle County both schedule a bowl game on the same weekend? I can understand Boyle wanting to show case their new facilities and host a bowl game, but why not do it week 0 or week 2. Danville has ran their Bowl game since 95. It has become one of the finer run bowl games in KY. Maybe they can get together and host two bowl games on two nights of the same weekend. I am all for Boyle hosting St X and Trinity. That means they would have to play one of them. I would just be willing to bet that neither X or Trinity is interested in coming to Danville KY to play in a bowl game, that is just my opinion however!

 

So instead of Boyle County hosting their own bowl on their brand new field they should cater to Danville's wants and needs because the games may fall on the same weekend? I think not. Boyle County should do what is in Boyle County's best interest. Period.

 

If Boyle County and Danville should come together and host bowl games on the same weekend then Danville could just split the profits from the Pigskin Classic and we could continue to have a bowl game that features the two local teams and everybody makes money off of it......right? Hmmmm. Why hasn't Danville thought of that?

Let's start by saying that there might be a reason for a bowl game in the same week, but it is probably more about self-interest.

Just out of curiosity....what makes you think Boyle County would have a hard time getting a "4th" school to play in the bowl game? When one school heard who was being asked about coming to play they replied..."don't even ask us.....we didn't know you guys were trying to bring in those kind of teams." And that info came from a player on that team.

I like "Titletown Bowl" or what ever the name would be. It would be great to see teams like a Highlands, Trinity, St. X, Male, or a Bell County along with Boyle play against each other.

 

My main concern is that Boyle has to improved their vistor side bleachers before this could happen, and I believe they would before this would take place.

You don't see a lot of schools outside of Louisville playing St X or Trinity unless they have too.

BG has been playing Trinity the last couple of years, but it is silly for a really good program to go to a bowl game to play a team like this, when they could sign a home and home contract. A really good high school gate and concession sales night would be from 15k-20k. Most good bowl games pay out 4-5k per year. I am just doing simple math. If I was Highlands or Bell CO or insert any other top program and I was willing to play one of the big 2, I would schedule a home and home.

 

Now if only one of those schools comes(St x OR Trinity), and I can play a team the 2nd year I can compete with, I might do it as coach.

About the bowl game, I don't understand why Boyle having a Bowl will affect things. Danville will invite different teams to their Bowl game, and Boyle can invite teams to their Bowl game. Boyle Co. had only been a part of the Pigskin Classic the last two years.

 

If Boyle County can have the bowl games next year......the same weekend of the Pigskin Classic(which I am all for)....then the Pigskin Classic will cease to exist. And everyone knows that. Including Bob Allen who would be happy to switch over to Boyle bowl game if it gets him more exposure to a Louisville audience. It's all about the money.

I know. I'm not sure I agree with it, but that's neither here nor there. My point was just to say that Boyle County doesn't appear to be involved in the Pigskin Classic after this season.

I love to crow about a win over Danville and to cry and complain about a loss to them. It's great for the community. I know that some people think that Boyle is supporting Danville's program by playing them (financially), but it was a rivalry when I played for Boyle ('79-'82 seasons) and it still is today. It's something that gets the schools, the teams and the community fired up for at least one week a year. Play the game!!
