I am amazed at how inaccurate Palmer has become. I can understand a QB losing some arm strength, some mobility, holding on to the ball too long, making bad reads, etc...., but just find it odd that he has become so unbelievably inaccurate over the past few years. It really does make you think that he has an arm/shoulder injury that just never fully recovered.

I think some of it might be mental now. It looks like he might be trying to hard to make a perfect pass, and it ends up not being a good pass at all. He hears all the talk about him, and it looks like he is trying to hard now. Instead of just going out and playing like he use to.

 

However even though I admit he has not looked to great this year so far. I still believe he can turn it around. He only has one receiver who he threw to last year in Chad, the rest are new. Bob the Brat still also sucks as an offensive coordinator too. I do think after the bye week, we will see the offense and Palmer start doing much better. I know I am not to down about it like most people. The bengals are 2 and 1 right now with the offense not clicking at all. I like where the Bengals are at right now.

Trent Edwards released by Bills today. Should the Bengals sign him as backup? Seems to be a better option than J. Palmer.

I voted that they should, but they won't. However, I don't necessarily think they should if Locker, Luck, or Mallet aren't available when their pick comes up.

 

I don't necessarily think Palmer is washed up, but I just think he's led this team as far as he's capable of. I want to see him succeed, but I just can't picture it just all of a sudden clicking anymore.

I have no clue either. Maybe Pryor if he leaves. Maybe McElroy, who wouldn't be bad for Cincy at all. He's not a star, but he's the game manager type that would go well with their young defense IMO.

McElroy? He's a Sr. I believe.

McElroy also has a low grade right now at ESPN, so I guess no one is really paying attention to him.

 

Blaine Gabbert, Christian Ponder, Pat Devlin and Kase Keenum are the next highest rated after the Big 3 on there.

I don't think we need a QB just yet. Palmer has struggled, but we're not going to get a better QB than him right now. I would take another offensive lineman in the 1st round.

 

I wouldn't be opposed to drafting a QB, but I think another OL would be a much better selection at this point. But then again, I don't know which QB's are coming out & which ones are available.

I don't think Palmer has any confidence in his offensive line. Quite frankly, I don't either. That doesn't excuse how poorly Carson has thrown the ball, but it all starts up front. That's why I would take another OL over a QB, particularly early in the draft. Carson, like it or not, will be in Cincinnati for a few more years.

What about this plan.....

 

Start young Palmer.

Get a top 3 pick in the draft because you started young Palmer.

Draft Luck, Mallett or Locker.

 

Full-proof. You can tell young Palmer to only throw to Chad and TO, with a mix of passes to Gresham and Shipley to help their confidence. Cut Benson, he's getting up there (28) and is going to need a new contract and you can sign a decent back this off-season. This way Chad and TO are happy, the two young bucks improve, you get to see what Scott can do with enough carries and you ship Big Palmer to the Bills for a 2nd or 3rd round pick. The defense is young and good, why waste their primes on CP when you could get a really good young prospect and develop him, starting next season?

 

Sure you sacrifice this season, but you rid yourselves of 4 or 5 more years of Carson Palmer almost looking like a really good QB to only come back down to earth and start launch 1 step slants into the 3rd row. The Bengals are 2-1, with a little work they could easily go 2-14 or 3-13.

You would be a better option than J. Palmer. As would my grandmother, who has been deceased for 10 years. J. Palmer could make the roster of exactly one NFL team - the Bengals - and only because his older brother happens to play for that team.

I certainly haven't seen anything deficient in his line. They're not the best line in the league, but they are far from the worst. A large percentage of the sacks Palmer takes are on him for holding the ball too long and for being so darn immobile. It's a lot to ask your line to consistently give you 5 seconds in the pocket.
