There's probably several folks out there that feel BGreen is the best 5a team out there and the game with T may fuel that thinking. I think Highlands is probably a little better and this weeks performance vs Eastern was impressive, so, I doubt many would leapfrog BG after a loss, regardless who it be against. It's almost as foolish to compare a live game vs a scrimmage as is it to use 2-3 yr ago performances by a team to guage there worth for this year. Many more dish BGreen because of 2-3 yr ago performances in the state when, in reality, maybe 1 or 2 of the kids on this years team, at most, saw the field in those games. But, I guarantee anyone who votes in polls and rankings uses those performances as a measuring stick when looking at the Purples. Wrong, but, the way it is. At least comparing a common opponent in the same year is a better guage than that, even if one was a practice game...

I don't remember that they were in there last season. Could have been. But I know several times when discussed, that Grayson Co has largely not been taken as too much of a contender due to the lack of quality opponents on their schedule.

 

They get Bowling Green at Home this week. So we'll see if they're just a paper tiger. (I sure hope they're not)

Since BG played Trinity closer in a game than Highlands did in a scrimmage I "assume" The Purples may get more 1st place votes this week.

Since HHS had 21 first place votes and only 210 points the person that put Hopkinsville at #1 didn't put HHS in the top 10.

AP voters follow a very simple formula: defending champions don't get penalized for staying undefeated.

Seems like a similar problem that happens occasionally. I'm sure Hopkinsville is right after Highlands on the pull-down menu used for voting. It would appear one voter accidentally picked Hopkinsville instead of Highlands. You would think the voters would recheck their poll before casting, though.

Sounds like some AP voters may have been reading BGP.

Hopkinsville got a #1 vote in 5A. Central Hardin got a #1 vote in 6A. Fairview a spot above Beechwood in the 1A poll. Pike Central ahead of Paducah Tilghman in the 3A poll. Johnson Central #10 in the 5A Poll.

 

I'm guessing it was Take a Kid to Work Day this week when it came time to vote.
