I'm not going to lie. A one-point CCH victory would be disappointing. Of course, that's easy and cavalier as I've got nothing invested like the players and coaches but strictly from a fan's perspective and projecting what that might mean down the road it would be disheartening.

I'm not going to lie. A one-point CCH victory would be disappointing. Of course, that's easy and cavalier as I've got nothing invested like the players and coaches but strictly from a fan's perspective and projecting what that might mean down the road it would be disheartening.

 

I can definitely see why a CCH fan would feel that way. A one point win means CCH has zero chance against Highlands. A one point win means CCH probably won't beat Dixie. A one point win with kids standing on the CCH sidelines who maybe thought about going to Beechwood and are watching and getting little or no playing time and know they could be starters at Beechwood ... that would hurt. The CCH starters who live in Ft. Mitchell and Villa Hills and chose CCH over Beechwood, a one point win isn't enough because I am sure they chose CCH in part expecting more than that. I can see where you are coming from. Beechwood is 1A and they aren't supposed to be within one point of CCH. So what will make you happy on Friday night? Do you need at least a 2 TD win like Dixie got? Do you need to win by more than that to feel good?

I will also be very disappointed to see BW lose to CC by any margin. However, it certainly takes a lot of pressure off knowing the outcome has already been pre-determined

Count me as one of those. Grew up in Fort Mitchell, my grandfather graduated from Cov Cath in '37, and my dad graduated in '66.

Yikes. I gave an honest opinion about my perception of the talent level between the two teams. It's not a personal attack on the young men from Beechwood. It's no different than when I'll post that CCH will be lucky to stay within 14 of Highlands.

I think CCH fans expect more than that and they should in a 5A vs. 1A match, even if it is a rivalry game. I am sure the players expect more than that, and that is the point I was making with the other comments. The years that Beechwood beats CCH are the years that CCH is at .500 or below. A one point win probably means CCH is going to struggle to .500 this year.

I agree. I don't doubt one bit that the kids that are at CCH are there for the Catholic education. They have to be. Why else would they choose CCH over Beechwood? :lol:

 

I too hope for an injury free contest. That is always a big concern in any football game but even more so for a small school going against a big school. Best of luck on a clean, well played game.

My basis for thinking that CCH should win handily has nothing to do with 5A v 1A. It has to do with what I've seen.

You'd be correct there. Beechwood had Cov Cath's number for 5 or 6 years there in the 90's.
