Beechwood scored on Highland's 2's.

 

Beechwood actually scored 10 points against Highlands' first teamers in the 1 1/2 quarters they played. Plus Highlands did keep a couple of their #1's in on defense the whole game. The offense has looked pretty good all season. In addition to the Highlands game, they have moved the ball and scored against Boone and Conner in scrimmages and against Dixie and Holy Cross . There is definitely room for improvement but they have some weapons offensively and some big play potential. Defense is where Beechwood needs to get better to beat CCH. Hopefully the three goal line stand against Holy Cross are something to build on. But it would be nice to get more three and outs before you have to make a goal line stand.

Beechwood doesn't have enough bodies to play their usual JV schedule. With all the injuries and losses (down about 8-10 players from the spring) the roster is down to about 35 or so with probably 25 of those counted on in varsity games. It is a weird thing with the roster. They are short on numbers but nearly all the guys that are there play varsity. Beechwood is playing platoon football even though the numbers are low. There are guys playing both ways some but no one is playing both ways all the time. You can't risk hurting guys you need on Fridays in JV games. They have cancelled all their JV games.

Kroger lot will definitely be off limits. You might be able to park on the older blacktop and walk from there but the newer blacktop will be blocked off. By the way, CCH 31 - 14.

I wouldn't say that Beechwood stopped Holy Cross. It was more like Holy Cross stopped themselves with dropped passes and penalties. That Walker kids dropped 2 passes in the endzone with the nearest Beechwood player 3 yards away.

The CovCath vs. Dixie Freshmen game being played on Thursday Sept 16th @ Dixie, now has a starting time of 5:30pm.

 

The reason given is a soccer game after the Frosh game and Dixie doesn't want it to end too late.

Ft. Mitchell Baptist has a big lot behind the church that is two blocks closer than Blessed Sacrament. I think the Baptists will extend a little interfaith hospitality and let you park there if you want to shorten the walk.

Any time you stop a team on 12 plays inside the ten with no points, the defense gets some credit. I don't recall any wide open drops as you describe in the goal line plays.

The parking for this game will probably be the worst seen so far this year. BW has some anniversary thing going on this weekend kicking off with a big tailgate party before the game. For the Dixie game, I parked one street over and had zero traffic to deal with when leaving.

You cant judge on how many points a team scores when the game is over in the 1st Q. Highlands could have kept them to less than 10 if they wanted. But i do think they will put some points on the board against CC but i like CC in this game 35-24
