It was a tale of two halves. Beechwood controlled the first half with Holy Cross scoring on a kickoff return and having only one good drive. That drive ended with a Beechwood goal line stand at the end of the first half. Half time score was 21-6 Beechwood.

 

The second half was controlled by Holy Cross. Beechwood never had a serious threat. They would get to about mid field and then make mistakes (penalties and 2 turnovers) that would end the drives. Holy Cross moved the ball better as the game went on but in the end, Beechwood had two more goal line stands in the last 5 minutes of the game to hold on for the win.

Maybe Beechwood is ready to roll.

I knew this would be a good game. HC is better than people expected and BW is still figuring it out.

All Beechwood needs to worry about is Class A and getting a rematch with Mayfield. Playing the likes of Highlands, CovCath, etc will prepare them for that run.

HC fought long and hard they just needed to cut down on crucial mistakes and they could have won there last two games. HC had two blown coverages, an untimely holding penalty, and a dropped pass or too. Just too many mistakes to win.

We already know the problem, Beechwood needs to improve their defense! They have already given up 106 points. There were many seasons in the past where they didn't give up 100 points all season. The D ends just aren't as strong as the past. There is absolutely no pressure on the quarterback. The defensive backs and linebackers seem to be 2 steps away from any receiver.

Why was this game played at Bellevue? I thought Holy Cross played their home games at Holmes? And is a home facility for Holy Cross in the cards?
