Why was this game played at Bellevue? I thought Holy Cross played their home games at Holmes? And is a home facility for Holy Cross in the cards?

 

Holmes had other football and soccer games going on all day on Satturday. Can't answer question two. I thought that Rosedale Park was going to be a home facility for the Indians.

HC didn't want to play Friday night at Holmes because of the school "Indian Summer" festival.

Before we completely move on from this game, I think it should be mentioned that the Holy Cross QB is very solid. I was impressed with him throwing the ball and running it. If Holy Cross can get the receivers developed a little more, they will have a really dangerous offense. Fuller is a strong, hard runner at RB and Arlinghaus is good at QB. They played from behind the whole game against Beechwood so that may have been why they threw so much. But if they mix in the runner a little bit more it will help the offense be more productive.

We already know the problem, Beechwood needs to improve their defense! They have already given up 106 points. There were many seasons in the past where they didn't give up 100 points all season. The D ends just aren't as strong as the past. There is absolutely no pressure on the quarterback. The defensive backs and linebackers seem to be 2 steps away from any receiver.

 

Agreed! The Line is not getting to the QB, but so far, the QB's are able to get rid of the ball pretty quickly. IMO, we won't know if/how things have improved until the NCC game.

I came away from the Belfry/HC game with the same thoughts. The HC quarterback, Arlinghaus, was impressive and very tough kid. He took some punishment in that game and it never phased him. Jasper had a good game receiving and they took advantage of Belfry's young secondary in that game early on. As the game wore on, Belfry's defense tightened up and Holy Cross needed a ground game to keep them honest, but they never could establish much on the ground. If they had, I feel it would have been a different game.

"Big Grin" is extemely tough.

I hope you are correct in saying that Beechwood will play Crittenden Co. in the semi's. I wish that game would have happened last year also!! Either way it will be great to see how the season's go for Crittenden Co., Mayfield, and Beechwood. Good luck to all the teams.
