Two lopsided games, what would be the positives?

Harrison, maybe, but there is no way Pendleton County would be in a district with Boyle County. It's about 2.5 times the distance for them to travel. Boyle County will almost undoubtedly be with Marion County, Taylor County, and Mercer County. I would imagine Lexington Catholic would stick with them as well. You may even see Russell County move into a district with them because while they have a long trip to play Lexington Catholic, they have that trip and longer to every single school in their current district. Not to mention that I think Owensboro will be placed in Russell County's current district, which would be even worse for the Lakers.

It's not only possible, it has to happen in a couple of them because there are more than 32 teams. But they are not to have more than 6.

 

My bet on 4A is:

 

D1 - Calloway County, Hopkins County Central, Lone Oak, Madisonville-North Hopkins - This one is almost a slam dunk. Only possible change would be Owensboro in, which may happen in the future when Lone Oak consolidates into McCracken County.

D2 - Allen County-Scottsville, Franklin-Simpson, Owensboro, Warren East - If Owensboro were out west, Russell County moves back into this one.

D3 - Atherton, Breckinridge County, Doss, Valley, Western

D4 - Fairdale, Moore, North Oldham, Spencer County, Waggener - The Louisville schools are a guess since I'm not as familiar with their exact locations, but they will span these two districts. All 10 of these teams will be in these districts in some form.

D5 - Cooper, Covington Catholic, Harrison County, Highlands, Holmes, Pendleton County - Feel pretty confident this happens. Harrison County is the only one at all uncertain, but much closer to this than others.

D6 - Boyle County, Lexington Catholic, Marion County, Mercer County, Russell County, Taylor County - As said above, Russell County could conceivably be in their old district if Owensboro is not in it. Russell County could even maybe be in D7.

D7 - Clay County, Knox Central, Letcher County Central, Rockcastle County - Letcher County Central is a bit isolated here, so not certain whether they'll stay or request to move up into 5A D8. Russell County could be in here if Letcher County Central did move up as that would reduce their travel distance.

D8 - Ashland Blazer, Boyd County, Greenup County, Johnson Central, Rowan County - Another slam dunk IMO.

My bet on 5A is:

 

D1 - Apollo, Christian County, Graves County, Hopkinsville, Ohio County - The Graves County trip is a haul, but what else are they going to do? Will they allow anyone to play up into 6A where they'd fit a little better?

D2 - Barren County, Bowling Green, Greenwood, Logan County, Warren Central - I see almost no way this isn't the district exactly.

D3 - Bullitt Central, Bullitt East, Grayson County, John Hardin, North Hardin, North Bullitt - My bet is Grayson County will fall here. No doubt on the Hardin and Bullitt schools being together.

D4 - Anderson County, Collins, Iroquois, Jeffersontown, Shelby County - Possibly could see South Oldham here, but I would think someone would have to be moved up from 4A to take care of the NKY district.

D5 - Conner, Grant County, South Oldham, Scott - South Oldham is inconvenienced here, could be in D4 if someone plays up. But really only if someone plays up.

D6 - East Jessamine, Franklin County, Montgomery County, West Jessamine, Woodford County

D7 - Lincoln County, Madison Southern, Pulaski County, Southwestern - Madison Southern gets slightly inconvenienced when compared to not being in D6, but not too badly.

D8 - Harlan County, North Laurel, Perry County Central, South Laurel, Whitley County - Could conceivably see Letcher County Central here if they moved up from 4A.

Don't think there will be any playing up guys, you are going to have to play in your class. At least that's what I've heard.

How weak is 5a?

 

The argument that 5A is already weaker than 4A can easily be made; especially with respect to the number of championship-quality teams at the top.

Interesting that Highalnds is the smallest 4A school but even if the drop in enrollment they likely would never be dropped into 3A since they have a nice four team district with Holmes, CovCath and Cooper. One would think that Cooper has the potential to grow into a 5A school in a short period of time. That is a very interesting district since both Holmes and Cooper are on the upswing. I know it likely won't happen but the playoff criteria should change, two teams from each district would make the regular season that much more special. I'd even settle for three teams from each with the top seed getting a bye.

 

CovCath looks like it would also be in that same district.

The complaining from Union or Independence should start any minute now...........doubt that either Ryle or SK would be excited about being in a district with three Louisville schools.

Maybe the fans. But I think Coach Warner would like it. Other than the travel. If he wants to play schools like Colerain and Highlands I don't think he will mind playing any one from Louisville.
