What if the younger kids did half of the scoring? Sometimes you just can't help it unless you punt on first down. I think it's too quick to judge this game without knowing the circumstances. I'm not defending scoring 75, I just think that until we know how the game was played I don't want to rush to judgement. I will say that perhaps these two teams should not have played each other.

No excuse this season. The running clock now starts in the first half if the 45 point lead is reached. With the clock only stopping on time outs or for injury all it takes is milling around for a minute or 2 after a touchdown to eat away 5 minutes of game time. Somerset scored 28 in the first quarter and 49 in the first half tonight against Russell County and could have scored 100 but they only scored2 touchdowns in the second half, 1 by the JV quarterback and 1 by a freshman running back. It really isn't hard to score under 70 and not show up the competition while doing it. Honestly, you could tell Coach Lucas really didn't want to cross the 60 point threshold but a kid broke off a long run.

7 times last year SV won by 35 points or more. So I think they can handle losing one game by 61. With that being said LC returned a turnover for a touchdown in the 4th and got another turnover in the 4th that they scored on one running play. So at least those two scores were definitely not the coach trying to run it up. So while everyone on here is saying to LC what goes around comes around shouldn't they be saying this to SV??? SV won at least two games last year by 48 or more points. Yep, your right. You reap what you sow. Tonight SV got what they've been giving.

Oh yeah, I forgot the most important point. In their first game this season SV ran a fake punt while up by 50+ points and then when they scored they went for two. beating that team by 60+. The more I think about it the more I wish we had left the starters in till the end and went for 80 or 90 points.

I'm not an advocate of running it up, nor do I accuse Lawrence County of it. But, I'm not buying that it's any more humiliating. Seriously, which would be more humiliating to you? A team scoring more points, or intentionally fumbling the football or punting on first down just to keep from scoring?

I'd play my starters one possession in the third quarter, put in the backups after that and call conservative rushing plays from that point forward. That's what I would do.

Lawrence County should be ashamed. It was not that long ago that they were sitting at 0 - 10. They were on the wrong end of several blow outs and now they are taking other smaller teams to the woodshed. A lack of class by what I had always thought was a classy coaching staff. There is no reason to hang 75 on the scoreboard. Lawrence will continue to feast on their soft schedule until the playoffs when they face teams like Knox Co. & Bell Co. then it will be famine.

Personally, I think Lawrence County was trying to send a message to westsider and got carried away.

That's funny as heck.

For those complaining about this score, what about these scores? And where were you when they were put on the boards?

Well I am not sure if LC ran the score up with their starters or not, cause I have not heard yet. As for the "soft schedule", LC cannot help these games were scheduled over 2 years ago with an home and home agreement. I still give credit for Coach Sammons and his staff for turning the program around back to its 90's form. I am sure next year the schedule will have a much different look.

So LC wins by 62 after an int for a td and a fullback right up the middle 26yds after a fumble. Subs started going in at the start of the 2nd quarter. Shelby Valley wins 66-0 a couple of weeks ago fake punting and going for 2 in the 4th quarter. Yet those of you running your mouth in this thread never said anything about that.

Schedule wise people need to realize that LC averaged about 2 wins a season 4 of the last 5 years. The schedule was beyond brutel and the program was a mess. The Super was sueing the school. The state department breathing down teachers neck etc. It's a commuitty that has 1 thing and that's football.

One part of a really big master plan was to lighten tge schedule. Winning is a cure all. LC has road the winning momentum and not only gotten tons of kids out of the hallways but also won the town back.

Zero doubt the lighter schedule helped build that momentum. The curse is it was 2 year deals and LC isn't the 0-11 program it was when the contracts were signed. Sheldon Clark is 2 weeks away and last years LC/SC was down to the wire one of the most physical high school games I've ever been around. So 3 weeks of starters playing only 1/2 is setting up for failure plus lc only has 2 kids playing both ways. All 58 kids dressed played in last weeks game and tge majority in this one. Off only scored once (on turnover + fullback up the middle 26yds in 1 play).

I understand both sides in this one and have mixed emotions. The good news is contracts are up and I'm about positive LC already has Prestonsburg, Russell, Sheldon Clark and Raceland lined up out of confrence next year.

Well said. :thumb:

Question, while your up 50-60 and you tell you kid to take a knee 3 times and punt, is that not showing a team up as well?

I would keep taking a knee and punt. No use embarrassing kids who are working hard, but just not in your league.

If I were a SV player and I new that LC was taking a knee or punting on first down, fumbling, throwing int ect on purpose. It would hurt worse then getting beat 75-0 or 99-0. It's not right. But LC should have had the freshmen in early. Maybe they did. But you can't tell your 3rd string players to do dumb things like fumble ect. The other team will know. And that would hurt them and the fans worse. If I were a player walking down town. I wouldn't want people talking around me saying. LC had to fall on purpose because the SV players couldn't tackle them. They were throwing int's. on purpose. They punted on first down to try and keep the score down. IMO that would kill me if I were part of that team. It would be better for me to get beat 75-0. Thats the ultimate put down. Taking knees ect.
