I'm surpised no-one has mentioned Pike's blocked PAT. I've never seen a guy hurdle the entire line except in a movie or game. That was probably the most impressive play of the game. Or, the 3 blocks on Bruns' run in the 3rd.

 

Dixie really needs to quit playing Pike both ways. His 2nd half offensive numbers have to be horrible this year when compared to the first half. He struggles with fatigue and cramps in the 2nd half. His balls either float as he doesn't follow through, or he just doesn't have anything behind them. He's way too valuable on the offensive side of the ball. If they want to play him on key defensive situations, OK, but not a majority of the game. As for his overall game tonight, he kept Dixie in this one. He really needs to learn when to zip the ball and when to put some touch on it. His picks were the results of trying to zip the ball in there instead of lofting them ahead of his receiver. The pick he threw at the end of the half was a killer though. A little touch and Bruns is running down the sidelines. However, it wasn't that great of a play call in that situation.

 

Whoever thinks SK's o-line did fine, then they have issues. If it wasn't for Lawrence scrambling, and making things happen, they wouldn't have had any rushing yards tonight. I'd be surprised if their backs had more than 50 yards tonight. They have a lot of work to do if they want to compete in 6A this year. Lawrence had to do a lot of scrambling tonight, and that's against a small Dixie defensive line that usually only rushes 3 or 4. The key to the game for SK was his ability to scramble, and Dixie's pourous pass defense. They give way too much cushion, and they bite on double moves way too hard.

 

The late hit penalty at the end was huge. Instead of 4th and 8 and probably beyond their kicker's distance, SK got a new set of downs, and it might have been a first and goal at that point. I thought the hit was fine from my angle. It looked as though the receiver laid out for the ball and as he was still in the air, he got hit. If it was truly late, the SK player would've been laying on the ground when he got hit. Real time, it didn't look like a penalty, and the SK fans next to me thought the same. Either way, it shouldn't have even come down to that situation.

How did Pike look throwing the ball? Accuracy getting any better?

 

Big arm, but accuracy and decision making still have a long way to go. Made an equal number of really good and really bad throws...

 

He needs to work on putting a touch on the ball and letting the receiver run under it.

I'd love to compare his 1st half and 2nd half stats this year. Playing him on defense the whole game is really effecting him on offense.

I know this won't be a popular opinion, but I think Pike's future is on the defensive side of the ball. Obviously that is not where Dixie is going to need him the most over this and next season, but from what I have seen of him that is what jumps out at me. He would be nasty at DE IMO...

SK's O-line did fine! SK dropped alot of passes but the best QB in KY showed his stuff and took the game over Lawrence is the man!

Dixie did a real good job against Ryle when they scrimmaged Elliot fumbled twice up the middle and Hempel was also stuffed. Elliot had good runs on the outside just like Lawrence did tonight SK has a few weeks to get ready for district I think they will be fine. Only thing that really hurt SK was all the dropped passes.

I don't know if Dixie gave it away, I do know that SK was better in the 2nd half, while Dixie was better in the first. Sure Dixie had a two score lead but SK muffed a punt return on their 19yd line to set up one score for the Colonels. DH also held SK on 4th and G from the one, that's a 14 point swing right there.

I am pretty Flying Brian is his dad he used to live in Edgewood before he died.

He took two full steps after the ball went through the WRs hands and then laid the lick. I initially thought it was a bad call, but we ran the replay a few times and the stripes got the call right. He had time to let up and didn't...

 

I thought they had it right immediately. From where I was it looked like he lead with his helmet. I didn't think they were calling a late it but spearing.

 

Also the one call I thought they missed was Pike jumping over the snapper to block that extra point. To me it looked like he was over the line before they snapped it.
