Alabama Larry
I'm just gonna watch, but if we get by Penn State/Gators/LSU/Hogs/Aubut we could play the Cats in the SEC game and win in OT.

Alabama Larry
SEC East is down. They will be 3-0 when they face the Gators at Gatorland. Auburn/Gamecocks/Georgia/ at home. Then Mississippi St on the road Charleston home Vandy home Vols on the road. So the Gator game might be very important and the Gators did lose some guys. I'm the eternal optimist and I'm still shocked reading this. The thinking is correct though and I said it since the schedule was announced - this sets up as the easiest SEC schedule I've seen since expansion. The road games (minus Florida) are against the preseason #5 team in the East and the preseason #5 and #6 team in the West. The home games are against the #2, #3 and #6 in the East (in a very down year) and the #3 in the West.
UKMustangFan
My team will be bad....again (Michigan). But they'll be bringing in a new coach next season, so I have that to look forward to. (*fingers crossed*)

(*fingers crossed*) I think if UM fires Rich Rod they will struggle to recover. Michigan and Rich Rod will be a good combo if the Maize and Blue give him time IMO. They had no talent his first year. Last year they had some talent but it was all extremely young. If your only two QBs are true freshmen you're probably not going to win many games. I think Harbaugh is the way they would go but the current Michigan roster is about as far from the types of players he'd need to succeed as you could get. Forcier, Robinson and Gardner are spread guys that all have talent. If Rich Rod stays I think Michigan will be a serious contender for the Big 10 championship next season. I have said this before about Rich Rod... I guess it depends on how you define the cupboard being bare. Bottom line, with the exception of Ohio State, UM had better players than everyone else in the Big 10 and all the recruiting services would affirm that. I think it is a very similar situation to BCG. Both stubborn guys that refuse to believe anything but what they do will work, regardless of their personnel. I have no doubt RR knows the game of football. Same as I have no doubt BCG knows the game of basketball. But not every coach and their abilities translates in to success, simply because of the history of a program... just ask BCG. Rodriguez may very well turn it around. I hope he does as I have some rooting interest in the Wolverines; but it is naive to believe he has not gotten off by taking two steps back. And unlike WVU, Tulane, Glenville State, etc. UM will not wait until you take two steps forward.
madduxace
While I agree with you some. The offense won't be bad. In fact it will be very good. The OL is going to be very good this year and for years to come. The Omemeh kid RR took as a project 2 yrs ago because of how athletic he was for the line has gained over 40lbs and is now almost 300lbs. He is a future all big ten linemen. Denard Robinson is ahead of Tate Forcier at qb which in my opinion is a good thing. Denard has made leaps and bounds in his passing game and if he can only be halfway good in the passing game he is going to be tough to stop because he has electrifying speed. The defense is my concern and why I agree with you. I do not know what to expect. If the LB'ers have improved it will be at least an adequate defense which is all they need to win 8 or 9 games. If I was guessing I would be conservative and say 7 wins with the possibility of 9. Anything less than 9 or a bowl game and a win vs 2 of the 4 rival games and RR is gone. Not sure which I want. My team will be bad....again (Michigan). But they'll be bringing in a new coach next season, so I have that to look forward to. And unlike WVU, Tulane, Glenville State, etc. UM will not wait until you take two steps forward. I just can't say that the talent was there when Rich Rod got there. He had no QBs and had to start a frosh RB, the line was not good and the defense had lost alot of players. He's had to play young QBs in both years he's been there, and I don't think you can expect that much out of them. I just can't buy that they've had more talent the last two years than Penn State, Iowa, or Wisconsin. Maybe they did but I just didn't see it. He also has completely changed the program, I think Michigan had to expect to take steps backwards when they went with a coach who was going to run the spread and eventually bring in the 3-3-5. I think 3 years is usually enough time for any coach to make a turn around but I think if Michigan gives him 4 years they will really, really be glad they did. I think the talent is getting there it's just really young. He needs to get to 8 wins this year to keep the improvement going, but I hope that 8 is enough for him to keep his job. Put him on the hot seat next season. Michigan really doesn't have much to lose IMO. Rich Rod continues to recruit pretty well so there will be talent if they go in another direction, and I think it was clear that Michigan needed something different if they were going to be able to beat Ohio State. Give RR a chance is all I'm saying.

swamprat
With Skip Holtz running the show now, I have no idea how USF will do this fall. His goal is to stop the mid season collapse that the Bulls have suffered each of the last 3 seasons. He wants to beat Florida and Miami, but his goal is to win the Big East. As tenacious as the Bulls defense has been early in the season, it seems to run out of gas by the time Big East play starts. Holtz has changed practice to battle just that. The Bulls are young. They are very deep on the offensive line, defensive line, and in the linebacker core. They have the 1st team preseason All Big East QB, in BJ Daniels, and a good collection of TEs. After that, though, question marks mar the landscape. Losing Carlton Mitchell to the NFL and AJ Love and Sterling Griffin to injury has decimated the wide receiver core. One of the remaining wide receivers also happens to be the 2nd best QB on the team. If BJ goes down, Evan Landi may have to take over, leaving another short at wide out. Sophomore Ryan Epps and 2 true freshman, Jamius Gunsby and Bobby Eveld, are in camp trying out for the job of #2 QB, but none of them has looked as good as Landi, who threw for over a hundred yards and a TD and had over a hundred yards receiving including another TD in the spring game. It will be interesting to see how JC transfer wide out TJ Knowles (6-8 240) works out. He's looked good in camp. Anybody watching the Philadelphia Eagles camp sees why there are those worried about the Bulls secondary this fall. Rookie Nate Allen is slated to start for the Eagles come September. He's in almost every highlight reel of every big game USF has won the last 4 years. The secondary is a major concern, however true Freshman, Terrence Mitchell, looks like he may be the answer at corner back. Question is whether Holtz will red shirt him to save for the future. He may not have a choice. Holtz had made a big deal out of not wanting his QB to be his leading rusher. With Mike Ford and Jamar Taylor released for breaking team rules, the Bulls will have to rely on 6th year Senior Moise Plancher again to carry the load at running back. Auburn transfer, Dontae Aycock, may be a back that emerges, but there is no bruiser like Ford or Taylor. However, there is that offensive line. I'm not good at predicting, but there are some trends. The Bulls pay well in Morgantown and lead the series with WVU 3-2, 1-1 in Mountaineer Stadium. The Bulls have never won in Kentucky. Came close last time, but no cigar, yet. Cincinnati has owned USF since both joined the Big East, after splitting wins in C-USA. Cincinnati leads the series 5-2. Rutgers has also had steak when they play the Bulls. The last time they were in Tampa the Knights did a beat down on the Bulls, 49-16. Up in Jersey last year ... 30-0. Pitt is 1-1 in Ray Jay, UConn has never won in Tampa, and Syracuse has never beaten the Bulls. Bottom line? The Bulls have talent, though most of it is young. It all depends on how they pick up the new systems, respond to the new coaching staff, and gel as a team after the firing of Coach Leavitt. This team could go 5-7 or worse. They could also win the Big East. Ain't college football great?

Still being though, we don't have Bama this year and that fateful stretch of three home games are winnable games if the breaks fall our way.
