They all got poor ROI as a direct result of their own choices, or at least choices of those they've hired to make those decisions. Poor example IMO. For the record, I wish that guys would play out their contract before holding out for a new one. I would assume that in the next CBA you'll see some sort of compromise between a rookie salary structure that is more down to earth and more bite on veterans and guaranteed contracts. I think signing bonuses will less likely be the only guaranteed $ if the NFLPA has anything to say about it. Sounds like a win/win if you ask me. Didn't mean to skew the thread. With the labor issues looming, I think Revis picked a bad year to pole-sit.

Not if his ACL gets blown. I'm sure Dumervil is happy he got his new contract.

Guys get overpaid big deal. It doesn't even come close to the same effect as what the players go through. I'm suppose to side with an owner who makes money hand over fist, when the players who are the real money makers don't get what they deserve most of the time? For every Albert Haynesworth there are 20 Chris Johnsons or Revis kind of players or players who get cut way before their deals run out.

Or hurt badly.

I understand the injury aspect. Not arguing that fact. Just wish they'd play it out until it's over. Of course, that's my simple minded fan perspective. If I were in Revis' shoes, I'd probably be sitting on that pole as well. His portly coach dubbed him the best defensive player in the league. Perhaps the owner should put a gag order on the rotund head coach. I do think that some of these issues will be hashed out in the next agreement.

Revis made 5.3 Mil in year 1, 2.7 in year 2, and 6.3 last year. Cry me a river. Shut up and play football.

Was only trying to point out that it's a two way street. The players also made choices when they signed their contracts. Albeit, poor or good, they made a choice and need to live with the consequences. What if an owner decided to withhold pay because a player was underperforming?

Did they sign a contract at their current jobs?

Unless you are illegally working in this country, I would assume one would always sign on a dotted line somewhere agreeing to the terms of their employment. Just as Revis did.

Sure it is a two way street. But I am not going to punish the player because the current wage structure is a sham.

Had Revis not signed his initial contract, everyone would be complaining that he should have gotten in to camp and prove himself... which he has. This is the only power players have in the process.

Not even close to the same thing. I was better at my last job than anyone I worked with and I didn't make as much money as the older people that have been there. I didn't cry and not come into work to try and get a raise. If I didn't liked what I signed up for I can take my ball and go play else where, which is what I did. He has made Millions already. They gave him that money in good faith that he would be a good player. Turns out he is and when that contract is up he is going to get paid. Sorry if I don't feel bad for a guy who has made 10 Mil in 3 years. Give me a break.

It would be one thing if he was making 500 K each year but he has made over 10 Mil in the last 3 years.

Everything is relative to their own situation. It is easy to criticize these guys simply because they make a boat load of money by our standards. But the market level wage for an all pro (only two of those a year) cornerback is well below what Revis is making. By the end of his contract he may not possess the same skills or suffer an injury last game of his contract season which is why you have to strike while the iron is hot.

I always side with football players in these things. Honor a guarenteed contract- as long as owners have the right to release players and terminate pay, then players should have the right to hold out for more money.
