Track the Reds (2nd Half, Week 5)

Just got back from the game. I was close to the fight and it was awesome. Of course, I'll agree with Molina. And clearly Molina didn't want to be touched, then Phillips tries to do it again...I'd like to see the person who wouldn't say anything... Now I don't know if you can see it on TV but during the fight, Wainwright runs to Garcia and takes him out to the mound to talk to him, make sure he stays focused on what he has to do. I thought that was awesome by Wainwright looking out for his rookie teammate. Then Garcia goes 1-2-3...

As a Cardinals fan I'd like to thank Brandon Phillips. He has fired up the Cardinals and the whole Molina thing I'm sure just added to it.

And how manly was Chrissy backpedaling like a 4th grade girl when Rolen came after him???

I'd love to have a competitor like him on my team, but he is quickly becoming one of my most hated players.

I love BP. I like when he plays with intensity, and I have no problem with what he said last night. But, he had to know something was going to occur when he hit Molina's shinguards. No questioning that.

I think Phillips wents overboard when he said all of them were babies. He should have limited that to LaRussa, Duncan and Carpenter. They are the only Cardinals I remember crying and complaining all the time.

From the game I watched last night, the Cardinals (specifically Carpenter) were already fired up and Phillips comments had nothing to do with it lol.

I don't have a problem with what BP said but after the team plays like that it makes you look a little silly.

You know what? The longer I think about it, the next time Albert was in a position that we were gonna give him a free pass, I'd drill him too. Save 3 pitches.

Carp crying because his catcher started a fight and his backup catcher got kicked in the face.

I'd be surprised if Cueto isn't suspended.

I like it. I am not one to like atheltes that run their mouth but lets be honest Cincy is little brother to St Louis. I like the fact that the game was intense as it was. That's what playoff baseball is like. The Cards are used to it Cincy isn't. I don't blame Molina one bit but I think the fire sparked could be good for the Reds. They've blown this series. Bad news is they face Wainwright who is the most underrated pitcher in baseball IMO.

On a side note I complain on BGP about fundamentals with today's pro athlete's. Cincy was pathetic tonight! How many balls did they throw over the cutoff man or home plate? It cost them big time! On the flip side Holliday hits the cutoff man and gets Edmonds at 2nd which potentially could have changed the game. It's the little things if you expect to make a run in the playoffs! Also Heise catching the ball wrong in the outfield. A good high school outfielder positions his body behind the ball...catches it with his momentum going forward close to his throwing shoulder...crow hops and fires. Not in the big leagues. They run a circle..catch it going the wrong way toward the bleachers and throw it out of control way up the line.

To be contenders you have to do the little things right. Cincy's outfield was pathetic tonight and that's being nice.

They haven't blown the series yet. They have their work cut out for them but a win on Wednesday and the Cards leave one game out.

He was up on the wall pinned against the netting. Was he supposed to curl up in the fetal position and cry???

So was Carp.. And it was the Reds players that pushed him up against the wall... And Phillips said the Cards were Babies

BTW, did I miss Edmonds in this scrum? Where was he? He looks kinda like a bar fighter. Did I miss his involvement, or was he skirting the edge like Bruce et.al ?

A la Don Drysdale?

Carp (3) "He could have done some real damage. He got (LaRue) on the side of the eye, got him in his nose, got him in his face." 10 minutes ago via web

Carp (2) " I wasn’t throwing any punches. And we’ve got some guy kicking me and kicking my backup catcher in the face." 11 minutes ago via web

Carp (1) “I was in the (backstop) net, with somebody kicking me from behind. Where I was held down. I couldn’t do anything."

I'd be surprised if Cueto isn't suspended.

I don't think he'll be the only one.
