NKY Bulldogs win a close one this morning to advance to the championship game this afternoon.

 

What bracket are they in? Who is playing well? Thanks for the updates.

From J Demling and the AAU Nationals in Florida:

 

The AAU season is over for the Shining Stars-Davis team 17U, losing in the quarterfinals of the first consolation bracket to W-A-V-E Basketball. It was not the best game of the season for Shining Stars as it looked like fatigued set in. Clark County's Robbie Stenzel had a big game, including five three-pointers, and was solid. Eastern's Remy Abell and Elliott County's Timmy Knipp had big summers but didn't end it with a bang.

 

I heard the SS KY-Price team is doing well too. They have won some really close ones and are clicking well. Anyone have updates?

Bulldogs won pretty easily over Fieldhouse Elite.

 

Ky Elite 15u dismantled Souther Indiana Red and Team Blaze to claim 5th place.

Thank you. This was an amazing ending to a great season for an awesome group of kids. They played extremely well and as a team. There were several coaches watching each game as the Bulldogs worked their way through the field to dismantle the Fieldhouse Elite Knights. Some of the Bulldogs are already hearing from several schools and I expect this to increase. There was great play from everyone.

Always great to win any tournament but why wouldn't Bulldogs go to Vegas or Orlando? If you look at the brackets for the USSSA tourney there was less than 30 teams for the 17U and I can't imagine the college coaches showing up to a tournament where there are only a few quality teams? In Orlando you are playing in front of 50-60 coaches some games with coaches from all levels, same in Vegas?

As was stated in another thread, the NKY Buldlogs chose Ft. Wayne over Vegas and Orlando due mainly to limited vacation and finances on the part of some of their players. Trips to Vegas and Orlando are very expensive and being a completely parent funded group, the Bulldogs decided Ft. Wayne was best. There were several D1 and D2 coaches along with tons of D3 and NAIA schools present. I also feel like winning the tournament garnered more exposure than just showing up. The Bulldogs are happy and their parents are happy. Lets not try to discourage the feat. I applaud anyone from KY who was successful this summer and in my opinion, the Buldlogs had a very successful summer.

Regardless of the reason they chose to play in Ft. Wayne vs. Orlando or Vegas, the accomplishment by these guys should not be diminished. Maybe they wouldn't have won the championship in Vegas or Orlando, but like someone mentioned here earlier, it's very expensive for a team to travel to these destinations especially when airfare is involved and your team does not have a corporate sponsor. Just wanted to give a big shout out to all of the players, coaches, and parents of the Bulldogs. Great job guys, and looking forward to seeing you all this upcoming season.

Congrats Bulldogs!!!!! Winning any tournament is a great accomplishment. Great job!!!

How did my guy Hodges do?

Hodges is always a factor. If he doesn't block a shot, he alters it. He mixed the post with the wing position this week and was very effective also. He averaged over 8 points and 4 boards a game. He shot the ball well and was great at attacking the rim for put backs.
