Track the Reds (2nd Half, Week 3)

Featured Replies

Why would the Phillies, who are in a hunt themselves want to give up Werth?

Pitching. He's good bait, I guess. They have Domonic Brown to fill in for him.

That's what I figured, but didn't know. Honestly dont' follow the Phillies to much except for when they're playing the Reds.

Seems like he is one of their more consistent players and they woudn't want to get rid of him.

I think they'd rather have a solid starter for the stretch than Werth. Domonic Brown is the Phillies top prospect and is hitting far above .300 in the minors so I don't think they would skip too much of a beat. It makes sense.

But...are we going to give up a solid starter to get him? lol. Solid being the key word there.

I wasn't saying necessarily for us I was just stating what they were looking for. Another reason for trading Werth is to clear up salary space for who ever they try to bring in to pitch.

Brandon Phillips 4

Orlando Cabrera 6

Joey Votto 3

Scott Rolen 5

Jonny Gomes 7

Jay Bruce 9

Drew Stubbs 8

Ramon Hernandez 2

Edinson Volquez, RHP

Not sure why Nix isn't in there, but hopefully Stubbs does something productive tonight.

Phillips back to leadoff??

Lets try Stubbs in the leadoff spot...give him a week there and see what happens.

Definetly. Just put him at 7th or 8th and ride him out. They really need Rolen to get rolling(no pun in tended) and Gomes to get hot. I wanted them to try and get a bat but that's not gonna happen. They shouldn't be trading away ANY young pitching right now, especiialy any of their young starters. I could MAYBE see Maloney getting traded or possibly Bailey, but IMO there really isn't anyone who will take them up on that offer and it be worth it.

I wish we could trade Alonso because the is no place for him in the near future, but the market isn't very strong right now. Might be better to wait til next year and see what happens.
