Obviously it is all mental. So why not try to boost his confidence and put him in the leadoff spot for a few games? Because if he plays to his ability thats a huge boost for this team. Try it for a week. If nothing happens put him back down in the 8 spot.

How is it obviously all mental???

Also, they're in the middle of a pennent race, you don't "experiement" with things destined to fail in the middle of one.

It's not like he's done great at the end of the lineup either. Better? Sure. So why move him back to a spot that he failed miserably in?

He's hit .234 that last two months.....and you want to move him to leadoff? No thanks....

He has 49 RBI's right now...thats 49th in the NL. You cant take his speed and defense out of the lineup in my opinion. We'll see how Heisey does in his spot tonight.

I didn't know being 49th in a category classified as an accomplishment

Top 50, duh...

Lets try Stubbs in the leadoff spot...give him a week there and see what happens.

I like Stubbs and am not ready to give up on him, but he's been slumping BIG TIME. We also have already given him an opportunity to lead off & he failed. In 83 AB's he hit .145 with a .242 OBP. That doesn't cut it.

I think Dickerson will be up relatively soon.

I think Dickerson and/or Heisey need to start getting some starts in CF, with Dickerson taking the leadoff role when he's out there.

Who do you send down when Dickerson gets called up? You can't have Heisey, Dickerson & Stubbs platooning.

I know who I'd send down, but I'm sure they'll send down Heisey.

I think they'll send down Stubbs. Heisey has proven that he is a valuable asset off of the bench.

I love Stubbs' ability to score a run, almost single handedly. But he should go down to the minors & work on his swing. Come back up in September (or when Dickerson gets hurt again) & let's see what he can do.

I hope you are right. Stubbs is a young guy and has a world of talent but needs some more time to work on his ability to bunt and contact. He simply just isn't producing at the big league level. I know he has a ton of RBI's for a bottom of the order guy but the Reds could use Dickerson in that leadoff or two hole.

Seems like it's been a while since the Reds have put together really good back to back offensive performances. Doesn't bode well for Wood.......again.

Just stating facts. Thats good enough for 4th best on this Reds team. So he has the 4th most RBI's on best hitting team in the NL. Not too bad in my opinion.
