He's a mid-30s wide receiver with declining hands, has proven to be a quarterback killer, something of a clubhouse cancer (remember his comments about Jeff Garcia? remember his working out at home in Philadelphia?) and ultimately never had much postseason success besides one trip to the Super Bowl in Philadelphia (which we will credit him with playing on an broken leg).

 

I don't see how he provides much more than 25-35 catches. I don't see how two me-first ball-hogs like T.O. and Ochocinco can survive with limited catches each. And how does Carson Palmer, someone who really needs a successful season throwing the ball, keep both happy without losing his own sanity? And don't forget, this Bengals team was good last year because they ran the football. If they have that running success again in 2010, where are all the receptions going to be?

 

The ultimate question for me though is this: Where has it worked out well for Owens+Quarterback+Team in the last 5-7 seasons? I just can't imagine any situation where this works out well in Cincinnati, either.

If Antonio Bryant is hurt who stretches the field to open the middle and help the running game? Owens is a deep threat. If he really wants to win why not the Bengals? If Palmer is pushing for him why would fans not want him? They signed Pac Man Jones and Matt Jones this year. Obviously idiots don't bother them.

That is a good point. But idiots don't seem to have a lot of team success in the NFL. Name me the last Super Bowl champion that had head cases like this? Saints, Steelers, Giants, Colts, Patriots, Buccaneers, Ravens, Rams, Broncos, Packers...I don't think any of them had multiple guys like Owens, Jones and Jones, Ochocinco, etc. And the Bengals have proven countless times over the years that cannot succeed with head cases. Why risk it?

Palmer wouldn't have went out of his way to say how good T.O. looks it that wasn't really the case. He obviously wants him on the team IMO. At this point in T.O.'s career he shouldn't and won't be demanding the ball like he did in his prime. I think he might understand his role a little bit now.

Because they already are the team of idiots. Why not risk it? He averaged 15 yards per catch last year. They can use that. It should seem pretty obvious that their big FA pickup isn't fully healthy. Every team has head cases. Just not as many as the Bengals do right now.

Palmer is use to having two always wanting the ball receivers. Lets not forget how he did have TJ, a receiver who did also complain a lot about passes. The offense and Palmer did great with that, and I believe woudl with this too.

I agree completely with that. That is why I don't want him to sign with the Rams.

I think we can pretty much say this is a done deal at this point.
