I doubt that Gomes, given his home-road breakdowns and his poor defense, has much trade value.

How many guys out there can be had for a couple million dollars and have 60 plus RBI's ?

A lot of guys can post a sub-.700 OPS away from GABP.

Dunn was a .240 hitter at GABP and is hitting .280 in Washington...

Chapman is young and lacks much professional experience ... as solid as the Reds are in the starting rotation, there is no reason to bring him up anytime soon, given his up-and-down performance at Louisville and his command issues.

As far as the chances of him becoming a closer ... someday, perhaps. Given his youth, talent and the money the Reds have invested in him, it behooves them to give him every chance to prove he can be an MLB-quality starter.

I don't disagree. But if it's a $ issue investment-wise, considering what a quality closer makes these days, he may be a bargain at that.

Adam Dunn's career numbers ... .252 BA, .383 OBP, .523 SLP, .906 OPS

Dunn's numbers in GABP ... .255 BA, .388 OBP, .557 SLP, .944 OPS

Obviously, Dunn's numbers weren't a GABP creation.

I think Gomes is really big factor in the chemisty this team has as well.

What I was pointing out is GABP is suppose to be a better hitters park than Washington. Don't look that way for Dunner

:thumb: I agree, but Walt ain't scared to make a move.

Exactly, kinda goes without saying. RedSox paid a fortune for a cat who dominated oriental dudes but hasn't been much on this side of the pond. I don't think the Reds are going to rush Chapman to the majors and frankly they don't have to, thanfully. However, I think that they have the makings of a serious staff for the future and that includes what I would consider a dominant closer in the making in Chapman.

Dice-K hasn't been a Cy Young winner but he did have an 18-3 season in 2008 and is 44-24 overall. He's been erratic at times but overall his numbers have been solid with the Sox.

Dice K was absolutely horrible last year. I wonder how much of it had to do with the World Baseball Classic.

I think that was a lot of it. He wasn't right from the get go and only made 12 starts.

GABP is a better hitters' park ... but Dunn is going to be productive wherever he plays.

I don't think the RedSox had "solid" in mind with the bankroll they mortgaged to him. And that's what I think, at least for the short term, the Reds can avoid. They have young guys who won't command astronomical salaries for awhile.

It's not to often when Dunn hits one out you think man that just barely got out.
