If you're Walt Jocketty

Featured Replies

I'm starting to believe that Jocketty is loading up the pitching staff to move a few guys, possibly for a "big bat". I'm not sure who they'd move and for whom, I just have that feeling now.

28 years old versus 23 ???

Its not giving up on the kid. Your getting an All Star in return.

The Reds would be downright crazy to get rid of Bruce, especially for a guy like Corey Hart.

I don't know who the big bat would be. There aren't really too many available. I mean Fielder and Dunn are out there but neither really fit with the Reds. I have a feeling we are just going to have to hope Gary Mathews gives us the lift the Reds need as an outfielder off the bench. Rolen needs to come back and start hitting again desperately for this team to succeed.

Any reasoning behind this?

You mean aside from the fact that Bruce is 5 years younger and only 23, is left handed, is one of the best defensive RFs in baseball, and provides pretty close to the same production (this year being the exception)?

Just throwing it out there. I didn't say it was the perfect scenario. To get Dunn they would have to give up something and I'd hate for it to be Stubbs or Bruce.

Adam Dunn will never wear a Reds uniform again.

That's something we can all be thankful of.

I would say the offensive production isnt even close but your correct about his age and defense.

Agreed!

Phillies are looking to trade Jayson Werth for some pitching. Of course, the Reds don't have an Oswalt type guy.

I agree. Walt Jocketty has been known to trade away youth for a big name, but I would be shocked if Jay Bruce was traded. Mainly because left handed hitters are not as abundant. He is young and patience is a virtue when it comes to him.

Bruce's #s the past two seasons have only been in roughly 100 games.

Adam Dunn will never wear a Reds uniform again.

Do you think that Walt would consider the fact that Votto and Bruce are best friends before he would trade Bruce? Keep readin, and I agree about the special chemistry that this team has, and trading Jay, or even taking a healthy Jay out of the lineup would have a negative impact on this team I think.
