July 22, 201016 yr It's not to often when Dunn hits one out you think man that just barely got out. That is true.
July 22, 201016 yr I don't think the RedSox had "solid" in mind with the bankroll they mortgaged to him. And that's what I think, at least for the short term, the Reds can avoid. They have young guys who won't command astronomical salaries for awhile. He won 15 games in the regular season in 2007 and 2 more in the postseason on a World Series Champion team. He's not been an ace but with Beckett, Lester, Buchholz and Lackey they haven't expected him to be. That being said I can see why the Reds wouldn't want to spend that kind of money on a 15-10 pitcher given their attendance levels and tv contract.

The Red Sox went out & got Lackey because Dice K wasn't what they had hoped...
July 26, 201016 yr Walt should give the Kansas City Royals a call. Greinke? No way they give him up in my opinion.
July 26, 201016 yr We need relievers more than starters. I was thinking Soria. They said he was off limits but then talked to the Yankees about him.

July 26, 201016 yr I've seen Ichiro's name mentioned a few times. Also on another board some fan said they would trade Volquez and Bruce for Soria, Greinke and another player that I don't remember. Not that I agree with that trade. Just throwing it out there to create a little buzz.
July 26, 201016 yr Lets see how Springer and Isringhausen do before we go looking for more. BTW Springer has been lights out so far. Isringhausen pitched an inning the other day and gave up a homerun and a walk.

July 26, 201016 yr Yeah, and the Yankees offered them a ton, and got shot down. I didn't read where the exact players of the Yankees were revealed. I just heard the name Montero or whatever his name is.
July 26, 201016 yr I have to admit. I would love Ichiro on this ball club. Let him bat leadoff with Phillips the number two hitter followed by Votto and Rolen. A great contact hitter at the top of the order would greatly help this team. I don't even know if Ichiro is available though. Maybe it could be like basketball and the Mariners would want an expiring contract for him like Harang's haha.

Not that I agree with that trade. Just throwing it out there to create a little buzz. You do the math here. Bruce is 23 yrs old and getting $440,000 and isn't arbitration eligible until 2012. Volquez is 27 yrs old and is making $445,000 and is eligible for arbitration this year. Greinke is the same age as Volquez and in the 2nd year of a 4 year contract making $7,250,000 and due to make $13,500,000 the next 2 years. Soria is is 26 yrs old and in the 2nd year of a 3 year contract making $3,000,000 and scheduled to make $4,000,000 next year.
