Scott Podsednik is tearing it up in Kansas City, .377 in July and he has 29 SBs on the year and could fill a big need for this team in the leadoff position. If they could get him they could send Stubbs down and put him in CF. He has been playing LF but I guess he could still handle CF.
July 27, 201016 yr I agree the Reds #1 priority should be a CF who can hit in the leadoff spot. Now after doing some research, the Reds should really go hard after Angel Pagan from the Mets as option number 1. He is only making 1.5 million this year and with the young pitching we have, I think the deal could be done. The second option in my opinion would be Chris Young of the Diamondbacks. Either of these 2 players will take the Reds to the level they need to be achieve in order to legitimatly compete for the NL pennent.

That may or may not be enough. He's the Met's everyday CF and Beltran hasn't done much at all since coming back from the DL. Stubbs has little/no trade value so the reds need to hold onto him and hope he learns to put the ball in play. If you're going the trade route, Podsednik would be much easier to get, especially for a 2 month rental. There's no reason to trade away the entire system for 2 months.

Surely you're kidding, right? First of all, Angel Pagan is not better than Scott Podsednik. Secondly, if Walt Jocketty traded Stubbs, Maloney & a minor leaguer to acquire Angel Pagan, he should be fired on the spot. Podsednik would be a better option.

July 27, 201016 yr What makes Podsednik a better option? Podesdnik has no pop and Pagan is just as good an on-base guy and is probably better defensively. And he's five years younger ... I agree on the Stubbs/Maloney comment ... don't see that happening. Podsednik has a .341 career OBP. He was over .350 last season & is barely over .350 again this year. Pagan has a similar OBP, but has never played in more than 100 games. In fact, he's already played in a career high number of games this season (91). Pagan is probably the better long-term option, but I don't think either one would be here more than 3 months...
