July 20, 201016 yr He definately could have played D1 right out of high school and anyone with any knowledge of what was going on then knows that. And had a chance to go try out for a D1 this second round but he would have had to sit out a year and he definately didn't want to do that so he declined... Why would he have to sit out a year if he went D1 now? I thought that was only if he had played sports at the current college he was attending.

Your words, not mine. I am honestly only asking a rules question as I am not sure what the college transfer rules are for students who haven't used up any eligibility. I'm not throwing stones at anyone, and I'm not implying anything. I wish young Mr Ferguson the very best of luck at his new college both on and off the court.

July 20, 201016 yr Goldie, to answer your question I saw Ferg and the crew numerous times through the years and against top flight competion.....a little interesting fact most on here doesn't know or wants to forget. EC played Mason County numerous times, Ballard, in the Myrtle Beach Ball Classic, played the numer one ranked team in WV from Charleston along with other tournaments of high caliber. If I had to place a number on the EC games from 06-09 I saw it was probably in the 50 plus range, so I would think I would have an informed opinion....which many on here do not! The article that peaked my interest in this group appeared in the Mark Story "county" section back in 05 I believe, that was to my knowledge the first of many state and national articles written on the EC boys and fueled my interest on what became the Mountain Ball Blitz!
July 20, 201016 yr As far as the eligibility goes, he was at Morehead State but since he did not play there, the athletics transfer thing wouldn't apply for having to sit out for going to another Division I school...sitting out only comes into effect if he would have been on the roster. There has to be something else to it as to why he would have had to sit out....not saying it was something bad or anything, but it wouldn't be because of the Division I transfer rule.

He won Mr. Basketball and got a scholarship to Minnesota. He was 6th man on the Final Four team against UK in '97. His first game against us at Cawood in '92 - his Frosh year he went for 36 and 18 rebounds...of course we still won the district that year. They were so good for the next 4 or 5 years though. Mike Jones, Casey Lester, Todd Cox...all were 1st Team All State at some point during the next 4 years.
July 22, 201016 yr Well let's compare the two teams: PG- Ethan Faulkner versus Mike Jones Junior---I take Faulkner without a doubt 2 guard-Evan Faulkner versus Casey Lester-Got to take Faulkner again, Casey would have got this pick but after the knee injury he wasn't the same 3 slot-Chris Knipp versus Charles Thomas- Gotta give this too Charles, great high school player, undersized at the D1 level 4 spot- Ferg versus Nathan Blanton--Ferg---end of discussion 5- Timmy Knipp versus Todd Cox--Cox was bigger, stronger but had none of Timmy's athletic gifts--Take Timmy as a sophmore moreI would Cox as a senior. What's your comparison? Granted a healthy Casey Lester would have changed ther situation, he could really play at one point.
