So its okay if Kobe can have Shaq, Gasol, Robert Horry (who has 7 rings!), Fisher, Odom, Divac, Glen Rice, Ron Harper, Rick Fox, etc. Not to mention the greatest coach of all time running the show, but Lebron is considered less by getting to play with other good players? I'm still not buying into the Lebron can't do this, or can't do that argument now that he actually has star players around him. Kobe didn't even make it out of the first round when surrounded by a Lebron like Cleveland team, so I just don't get it? Why does everyone think Lebron has to be the lone wolf on a mediocre team and win before he finally gets some cred? Blows my mind.

 

A couple of holes in your argument.

1. Kobe didn't really get alot of credit for his titles with Shaq, other than from Kobe-lovers, until he won some as the leader of the Lakers the last two years. People said they were Shaq's titles, and Kobe couldn't win one on his own.

2. Let's please not compare Pau Gasol and DWade. Gasol is great, but a comparing the two would be a joke.

3. Kobe didn't run to a better situation. Sure he cry, beg for and demand a trade, and basically gave up until they got Gasol but isn't that what LeBron was doing in Cleveland? I mean every move went through him. Kobe, nor any other great would have went to another great player's team and relied on them to lead them to a title.

With what he makes just from Nike and Gatorade I don't think his NBA salary makes much difference. That said I like watching him play.

I would watch regardless of if he was on the Heat or not. I watch the NBA any chance I get because I love it, not because I want to see the Heat win by 20 every regular season game.

No matter how much he makes from endosements he's made $31 million plus over 7 seasons. If he struggles to get by on what he's being paid on this contract its his fault. Don't forget that Wade and LeBron for sure and possibly Bosh took less money so the Heat would have enough to sign Haslem and others. It is refreshing to see a player like Haslem take less money to stay at home and try to win championships but lets not pretend its a huge sacrifice given the amount of money he is going to make.

Only one guy you mentioned was better than Wade(Shaq) and only two are(were) better than Bosh(Shaq/Gasol).

 

 

If Kobe had left LA to go play with San Antonio and had he won 3 more titles with Timmy we wouldn't even be discussing Kobe right now. All EVERYONE would say about Kobe is that he could never do it by himself. When Kobe's first 3 titles are mentioned in any debate, especially debates concerning Kobe/MJ the first thing people say is that he wasn't the best player on his team and that it was Shaq's team. Had he left for greener pastures and formed a super team with Tim Duncan and TMac when they were free agents then Kobe would not be revered the way he is now because of the wealth of talent around him needed for him to accumulate titles. Now that LeBron is going to attempt to win titles with the 3rd best player in the NBA and one of the top 2 power forwards in the league why should that standard change? Especially when according to you he was doing better at guiding a hapless bunch of losers to the Finals, the Eastern Conference Finals and Eastern Conference Semifinals than Kobe was at getting out the first round. LeBron could have gone to Chicago and kept all of his credibility with me but as much as I like him and enjoy watching him play I can't look at him the same.

 

I asked my buddy today would you sell your insurance agency to go be the number 2 guy at a competing agency and work for a guy who is a great friend but you know you are better than him but you two could have a super agency or would you take your agency which has been a top 4 agency and better than the friend's agency and work a little harder in all facets of your profession to make your agency the top agency.

 

LeBron would sell the agency. He made a sacrifice to win titles and he sacrificed the chance to be the greatest ever.

 

One title in New York would have gone a lot farther for him in terms of where he will rank amongst all time greats than multiple titles in Miami will.

 

I also think that anyone who believes he wouldn't have won at least 1 title had he stayed in Cleveland is in denial. As many different things as Cleveland has tried to make the team better, they were simply one person away. I cannot convince myself that they wouldn't have gotten that one person sometime within the next 6 years. I watched the Bulls be built from MJ up. I watched the Pistons be built from Isiah on up. I watched the Spurs be built from David Robinson up. This is the first time I can recall watching a team(Cavs) build something so spectacular and get so close only to have the building block say ....ahhhh, I think I am going to stop construction and go hang out at my friend's beachront condo.

Yeah, SuperFriends will be coming on every Sunday on ABC in the afternoons and at least once every week on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.

 

Most definitely Christmas. Probably against the Lakers, Magic, Cavs or Celtics.

I was just making sure. :lol: Most people don't know it's only for the game played in FL. So only about 41 games a year.

I haven't been a fan of LeBron since he came into the league. Just a lot of the things he does irk me in the wrong direction.

1.) I am asking why Lebron still can't reach the status Kobe has right now? He would have five, six or seven years to do so. You basically help my own argument with you first point. Kobe wasn't even the best player for his first three rings, at least Lebron will still be the best player on these teams, so why can't he ever be better than Kobe?

 

2.) It's hard to compare Gasol and Wade because they play two different positions. Great big men are often overshadowed by great wing players. Gasol is better than Bosh, and if not better they are even. You add up all the other guys around Kobe, Odom, Artest, Bynum, all the guys who were on the past team, then collectively you can cancel out D-Wade. So again, what difference is Kobes help in winning those rings different than Bron's?

 

3.) Kobe didn't have to run to a better situation, he played for the Lakers!!!! Aside from Celtics the greatest basketball organization on the planet. He had just came off a three-peat and wanted to win one without Shaq. His crying, begging, complaining, threatening IMO was way worst than Lebron going somewhere where he would actually be guaranteed to have talent around him. He could have went to New York, stayed in Cleveland, anywhere, and all he would have is promises to get certain guys around him. Miami was a set in stone situation, how can you pass up on that if your number one goal is to win championships?

 

Lebron doesn't have to rely on anyone else to win a title, if anything they are relying on each other. Lebron made a Finals appearance by himself practically, thats way more than Kobe can ever say.

^Lebron made it to the finals when the East was pathetic. I barely count that an appearance especially after the way they played in the finals. Clearly showed how much they didn't belong there. They played the Wizards, Nets, and the aging Pistons. Walked into the finals.

I didn't know getting to the Finals and getting swept counted when talking about NBA legacy unless you are using it against someone.
