It's not as if the tax cuts ever did much for me anyway. I haven't had a refund in something like 6 years.

Read that last night.

It seems The President and his staff are only wanting us to make us suffer more.......

Can someone combine this with the thread in the politics forum.

Of course, none of this has happened, it is only speculation. Cannot you not find enough things to criticize that Obama has already done, you have to also criticize what you think he might do . . . "iffy" is great reporting.

Done

Your second sentence has little to do with the first. Too many factors involved.

Of course, none of this has happened, it is only speculation. Cannot you not find enough things to criticize that Obama has already done, you have to also criticize what you think he might do . . . "iffy" is great reporting.

The linked article is not speculation, but fact. The tax cuts will expire unless they are extended, thus requiring more taxes from everyone who already pays them.

Yes, your suffering is precisely what he had in mind. If the objective of political debate is an attempt to reveal facts or arguments in an attempt to win over people either undecided on these tax cuts or even a few of their opponents, then comments like that do your side a great disservice. But if the objective was to make you feel better about your own opinions, well then, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

President Obama and his administration may be acting under the input of poor counsel, bad information or imprudent economic theory. He might be influenced by political factors that undermine his ability to look at the problem objectively. He might even be acting foolishly or with grave ignorance.

But to accuse him of malice? What good has that done you just now?

The linked article is not speculation, but fact. The tax cuts will expire unless they are extended, thus requiring more taxes from everyone who already pays them.

Don't go bringing facts into this argument.:p:D

No new taxes. Barack Hussein Obama said so. I mean would he really lie. He is the President after all.

Just a point I need clarified...these aren't new taxes...these are old taxes that were in place, but temporary cuts were put in place with an end date, and now the end date is looming...right?

The current six rate brackets of 10%, 15%, 25%, 28%, 33% and 35% will be replaced by five new brackets with the higher rates of 15%, 28%, 31%, 36% and 39.6%.

Don't know what tax bracket you're in, but, in most instances, I would guess instead of not getting a refund you'll be paying more in.

10% to 15% = 50% increase

15% to 15% = 0% increase - I'm assuming this. It doesn't say whether the current 15%ers move up to 28% or remain at 15%.

25% to 28% = 12% increase

28% to 31% = 11% increase

33% to 36% = 9% increase

35% to 39.6% = 13.1% increase

Just a point I need clarified...these aren't new taxes...these are old taxes that were in place, but temporary cuts were put in place with an end date, and now the end date is looming...right?
I believe you are correct. Wouldn't it be a wise thing for Obama to continue the cuts however? The economy isn't exactly booming.
