June 28, 201016 yr I have no issue with people owning guns as long as they follow the correct steps in purchasing the gun and attending training on guns. As for the criminals and their guns, I think it is a lot like drugs. Both are like spitting into a fan. Not sure if there is an answer. Except tougher on crime. Whatever happened to 3 strikes and your out.
June 28, 201016 yr I wasn't making a comment on the ruling. Those numbers are just stunning. I can remember two things when I was living in St. Louis. 1. My father and I used to bet how many people would get shot and killed every weekend. 2. I was at a party with some friends of mine. One of my friends left to go to the corner store for something and never came back. We went to look for him and found that he was shot and killed at the corner because the he wouldn't give a guy the quarter he asked for. I used to be for banning guns because of these two things but as RTS said It would only keep guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens.

Yes, it would be done by criminals. Yes, if you are not obeying the law, you are not a law abiding citizen. With that said, those numbers that Clyde posted do nothing to show that gun laws only work on law abiding citizens. Isn't there crime that is committed without guns?

Those who voted to preserve the constitutional right to bear arms. Justice Samuel A. Alito , Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Antonin Scalia, Anthony Kennedy and Clarence Thomas Not that it is a surprise but these are the four who voted not to support the constitution. Washington’s Mayor Adrian Fenty similarly warned: "More handguns in the District of Columbia will only lead to more handgun violence." Yet, Armageddon never arrived. Washington’s murder rate has plummeted -- falling by 25 percent in 2009 alone. This compares with a national drop of only 7 percent last year. And D.C.'s drop has continued this year. I think your statement is horribly overbroad. Of course the individuals who shoot people are criminals. I'm for the right to bear arms. It's clearly stated in the Constitution. But, most people follow the gun laws. Guns bans are obviously unconstitutional, but that doesn't mean gun use & ownership shouldn't be regulated to implement safeguards for everyone's safety.
