June 30, 201016 yr CC did say he would have just liked the simple fact of anyone pinch hitting for Leake even though Leake is an exceptional hitter for a pitcher (pitcher being the key word). He just didn't see why Leake hit for himself and still didn't pitch the next inning when guys like Nix and Stubbs were available and even Rolen. Just trying to bullet point the facts of CC's opinion. Hopefully Mustang don't consider me one of the many that constantly complain about the Reds/Dusty about a loss.
June 30, 201016 yr Rolen is old and has a bad back, he almost assuredly wasn't going to be put into the game in any situation other than strictly a pinch hitter. He needs about a day a week off. I understand that. Actually, Dusty deserves some credit for giving Rolen the day off so that he could face Halladay today & play in 5 consecutive day games. It still doesn't change the fact that Leake should have been pinch hit for, whether it was Rolen, Nix, or Stubbs.
June 30, 201016 yr No score after 1, Phillies did put runners at 1st and 2nd with one out, Harang got out of it. No score after 2 Edited June 30, 201016 yr by homeless_camel
June 30, 201016 yr From the pic looks like a good crowd to see Roy. Pick me out a winner Bobby :thumb: Sorry, just had flashbacks
June 30, 201016 yr Do I think it was the right decision? No, but to think that, that particular move cost them the game is downright laughable. You crack me up. At least I know where some Dusty supporters stand now. Lets assume Rolen was "pitched around". That means Phillips can tie them game. I like that. If they pitch to Rolen and he gets out and they don't put him in the game what's the worst that could have happened? As it stands they got beat in extras and their best right handed hitter never got an at bat. Even if he didn't use Rolen b/c he was saving him, which I'm fine w/, you're really telling me a pitcher gives them the best chance at getting a hit there? If so I see why you support Dusty. That's what's laughable.
June 30, 201016 yr Excellent point. If he uses Rolen and he harmlessly grounds out to end the inning, everyone in here is in an uproar over Dusty using Rolen too early. Either way many in here are going to whine and complain, just like they do after every single Reds loss, that somehow Dusty was at fault. Heaven forbid it ever be because the other team made plays and got timely hits and the Reds didn't. The Reds weren't afforded every opportuninty to get the big hits b/c their manager left the pitcher in to hit even though he wasn't pitching again and they had a full bench. Nobody said they would have won if they pinch hit. To argue that they wouldn't have had a better chance is a joke IMO. The thing that makes it worse is Dusty of all people should use his hitters earlier in the game b/c if Owings has to pitch 3 or 4 innings and hit a couple times they don't lose much at the plate. It was a dumb move and Dusty handles taking Leake out wrong. It isn't the first time he's done it. In the game they blew in Atlanta he had Owings hit for Leake and neither one of them threw a pitch the next inning. After the game he said Owings gives them a better chance at a hit and he needed some swings. Leake's next start he left him in w/ guys in scoring position and said Leake had a hit earlier and is a good hitter. Dusty's main job after the game starts is to not mess up substitutions. He's bad at that IMO.
June 30, 201016 yr Harang gets through the meat of the lineup and gives up a 3 run homer to Sardinha Nice.... I would assume that is the former Red correct?
June 30, 201016 yr Harang gets through the meat of the lineup and gives up a 3 run homer to Sardinha I agree, that is terrible. I kept saying not to take chances and walk him to get to Halladay but they did not do it and it cost them. You play the odds and take your chances. Reds knew that they had to keep the runs down today against Halladay but no. Reds are terrible at stuff like this, little things that really cost them. Harang has a track record of ginving up gophers to nobody and he has done it again. Now, he will probable pitch good the rest of the way. The guys who has hit 3-run homers off the Reds the last two days are in the witness protection program.:irked::irked:
June 30, 201016 yr Stubbs up with 2 men on and 1 out and strikes out in 3 pitches. He's really starting to get on my nerves.
June 30, 201016 yr Reds get 1st and 3rd with 1 out, but can't dent the scoreboard. I believe they have stranded around 5 or 6 runners through 4.

Good to know you don't necessarily read the posts you quote.
