June 15, 201016 yr Just so you don't put Texas on some pedestal and think there is anything but money driving these decisions, one of the key factors in Texas' decision to stay in the "Big 12" is that they will be allowed to pursue their own TV deal. I am sure they are hoping to make more money that way than by joining the Pac 10. It has always been about money for Texas. I could never figure out why Texas really wanted the PAC 10 because they could never have achieved thier goal of establishing their own TV network deal. If they truly wanted that then only the SEC offered that viability. I'm not sure how strong this money deal is for the Big XXII unless they just got all the jack and are giving it to Texas. Oklahoma can not be real pleased with this. What I really can't figure out is how the Big XII is going to hand out more money with less teams, especially with them now lacking a conference championship game. I'm guessing Jerry Jones is not real happy. A&M had their chance to get out of Texas's shadow by bolting to the SEC. I think Mike Slive really pressed Texas in a sense of backing away from the PAC 10 once A&M made it clear that they were not following them westward. The SEC would have had their footprint extended into Texas and that was not what Texas wanted. Nebraska comes out smelling like roses in all of this. Colorado comes out better in this deal than the PAC 10 does IMO. I still think this Big XII deal is being built on a house of cards. All eyes go back to the Big 10.
June 15, 201016 yr I still think this Big XII deal is being built on a house of cards. I agree with this

I am sure they are hoping to make more money that way than by joining the Pac 10. I also came across this little tidbit from SI.com today. As we all know, Texas wasn't exactly fighting the good fight for the good of the league. Kansas, Kansas State, Baylor, Iowa State and Missouri -- who were in danger of being left homeless if the conference dissolved -- agreed to give up their share in buyout penalties to be paid by Nebraska and Colorado for leaving the league, Beebe said. The idea is to have that money go to Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma, the schools the Big 12 needed to stay to remain viable, to make up for the difference in revenue those three might have made going elsewhere. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/football/ncaa/06/15/big12-lives.ap/index.html?eref=sihp
June 15, 201016 yr There is one game to get excited about in the entire B12 season now. That's it. Which is the same number as before....
June 15, 201016 yr Which is the same number as before.... Lately it has however NU is getting better and they're good for the conference when they're good. Its obviously still a UT/OU battle but , wow, losing a big name in a conference that is already limited is not good.
June 15, 201016 yr Which is the same number as before.... Nebraska is coming back. They're a top 10 program nationally. Their loss will hurt the Big 12.
June 16, 201016 yr I sorry NU is a top 20 team, but they are still 2-3 years before they are a main stay in the top 10
June 16, 201016 yr I sorry NU is a top 20 team, but they are still 2-3 years before they are a main stay in the top 10 NU is top 10 team this year. As far as being a main stay there, we'll just have to see but with the coaching staff they have and the moment they have going after just 2 years I believe they will be.
