I have been to all the ones you mentioned from the 15th but East Ridge. They all are nice. I have not been to the East Ky Expo Center. Great to have a netural court to have the regional games.

When I was young, our basketball team was in the 15th region. My menories of the gyms we played in were, Hellier Hellcats, Van Lear Bank Mules, and Martin Purple Flash. We also played Phelps and had to go over what we call "Grape Vine Mt" That was an experiene on a school bus. The regional tourney was held at Prestonsburg.

I've been in the Phelps gym, somewhere around 1975. Not a lot of room to maneuver along the sidelines, but lots of "atmosphere". I enjoyed it.:thumb:

My wife's roommate was from Jamboree; which is part of the Greater Phelps Metropolitan Area. It was there that I was introduced to biscuits and chocolate gravy. They like their health food in Pike County.

Belfry's new football complex is pretty sweet. when I was an assistant coach a couple years ago I got to get a good look at it inside and out, and can't imagine what the home locker rooms must look like because the visitors was rather accommodating. Normally you expect the worst when you go to away games, I have seen some poor visiting locker room conditions in my day.

I really want to get to a game at Belfry some day.

Ahhh, I see you have had some good old mountain food. My husband was raised on Chocolate gravy.

I love coming around the mountains to Belfry and then all of a sudden there sits that beautiful stadium. Very cool sight at night when it is all lit up and gametime is near.

It's a pretty good atmosphere, they sure love their football in those parts. Huge, huge, upgrade from the old Vipperman stadium.

East Ridge is right on par with the nicest in the Region. Of course, reason being for so many nice facilities I would believe is that so many of the schools mentioned are consolidated schools and are fairly new. Shelby Valley came about in the early 90's I believe, Pike Central in the late 90's then East Ridge in the early 2000's. Belfry was not consolidated, but got an entirely new complex.

Sheeew, the trip to Phelps, don't remind me. And along with the Hellier Hellcats, did you ever get the chance to take on the Sycamore Jaguars? Back before the wonderous days of consolidation there were a lot of hole in the wall schools around the mountains, then they got consolidated into schools who then got consolidated themselves.

So I'm hearing that I need to go to a football game at Belfry and a basketball game at Mason County...

A region game at Mason County is cool for hoops............

No we never did play them. I know there are other small schools we played, these are the ones that just stuck in my mind.

Nothing like a Friday night FB game at Putnam Stadium to watch the Tomcats.

I love three football stadiums in EKY, Putnam, Johnson Centrals and Belfy's.

I don't think there is anything like a big game at Putnam, at least on this side of the state. It's not the most up to scale place, but it's a great environment IMO.

Johnson Central has a great facility and you have to love the music. We went to the JC-Highland's playoff game there a few years ago and even though it was extremely cold we had a great time.

Belfy's stadium is amazing. I think its what most schools would dream to have their stadium be built like.

For basketball when I played I always loved playing at Boyd and Greenup. Raceland probably has the best gym in the region IMO, it's a nice facility. To be honest I don't really think East and West have a bad gym either, I just wish they would be full every now and then.

Done that a few times, great old stadium. I heard somewhere that it's scheduled to go by the wayside.

I think Raceland got some kind of huge grant a few years back to construct the gym and the "multipurpose" facility. I've never been to the gym, but Mason County put on a musical there a few years ago in the theater and it was a top-notch facility.
